Default How to Record a New Track with 2 Tracks Already Recorded

Please ignore this thread I found the solution to it. I understand I cannot delete the thread itself.

I have a Reaper project saved with 2 wave files in it with nice guitar picking. I want to record a 3rd track to play the melody with the 2 tracks playing.
I got an error message when I tried to record the 3rd track and when I ignored the warning the first two tracks were erased. It is like it wanted to record on all 3 tracks.

I only set the record button to RECORD on the 3rd track.

Can somebody help me on this? What am I missing?

It would be good if you could tell us what you had been doing wrong and what your solution is. That could be helpful to anybody in the future who has the same problem.

It's also a source of immense gratitude if Reaperers who solve issues (well done guys) go 'Advanced edit' and add 'Solved' to the thread title.

I agree with this.

It’s often the case that threads are abandoned by the OP and so we never know if they solved the problem or just gave up.

I had a PM conversation with a couple of our mods about introducing a “solved” button so that it would be easy for posters to amend the thread. But apparently this is not easy to do within the forum architecture.

“SOLVED” posts might even have a sub forum of their own although this would involve some sort of curation which the mods might not (understandably) have time for.
