Badly implemented Track Envelopes Window
I don't even need to describe it. Just chuck a kontakt or any relevant VSTi into a track, then open the track envelopes window and see for yourself.

See what for myself? The cute rectangle it is drawn with?
The beautiful colors the theme superimposes over it?
Does it cook coffee while you expected hot chocolate instead?
Issues with a "don't need to describe" - description have this impractical tendency of not being descriptive.

When you open the track envelopes window of a track, it tries to fill your whole sreen with all the automatable VST parameters, HORIZONTALLY, instead of a clean vertical list with scrollbar on the right and not on the bottom.
A simple fix of auto-minimizing the parameter list by VST name upon opening the window and leaving a searchbar out for a quick search doesn't seem very hard, yet it remains as it is.

After years it seems like the main philosophy of the devs seems that things does not need fixing as long as they work in any way, no matter how unusable they are.
This is more than nitpick imo.
This is just a single ProQ3 loaded.

I dislike single vertical lists in Reaper as they do not have scroll-bars and are awkward to use.

So it could take ages to get down the list.
Opening the Envelopes window with all FX lists collapsed and a Filter field for each FX would be a start.

Hey guess what? You can use envelopes without ever looking at that screen (never needed it in the last 10 years):
Move a param in any plugin.
Run action "show/hide envelope for last touched fx param."
But an endlessly scrolling column for this would be far more "badly implemented," considering how many parameters plugins can have.
Although I agree it should be fully collapsed by plugin upon opening. No quicker way to turn noobs away from learning to use envelopes than by opening that window. Pretty overwhelming to say the least...

Yes. I've been using that godsend action.
Glad you see the point of view of people new to reaper. Not just the noobs though, even people who came from other DAWs like Logic.

Yea I never saw an envelope system that wasn't overwhelming though. If Reaper didn't have that action, I probably never would have started using them. Never tried Logic tho, cos I don't use Mac.

Or ... touch the parameter. click [Param] and click "Show track envelope"

+1
And this is one instance of EQuilibrium, which is my go-to EQ, so it's not rare to see a few instances of them on a single track... I wish the active checkbox was more visible, maybe color-filled.

It's honestly useless like that. Who can parse such a list with mere human eyeballs?

Well ... in fact .... there could be in the options the possibility to choose how many lines to open certain windows: 10? 20? Completely??
.... at the user's discretion
