Default v5.25 - "Move notes left/right one pixel" actions misbehave

v5.25 introduced an unexpected behavior to "Move notes left/right one pixel" actions (MIDI editor) when zoomed. The farther notes are zoomed in the more times you have to run the action (it takes hundreds of times with max zoom) to make notes move at all. But even then they do not slide by one pixel but by a some different amount (a tick?). Everything worked as expected before current REAPER version.

OS: Win10 x64; REAPER v5.26 x64.

This is not a bug: If you zoom in a lot, a single pixel becomes smaller than the size of one tick, and since MIDI events can only move by discrete one-tick steps, moving left or right by a single pixel becomes impossible.

Since v5.25, MIDI events are displayed at their actual discrete, integer tick positions - not at misleading continuous, fractional positions. (According to the MIDI standards, MIDI events may only positioned at integer tick positions, so this is not a limitation in REAPER itself.) In previous versions, REAPER did not limit the display of MIDI events to integer positions, so users often did not realize that, 'under the hood', the MIDI event is not actually positioned at the displayed position.

Thank you for your detailed reply Julian. But then the actions should be revamped and renamed. As of now you have to run the actions hundreds of times to move notes by one tick when zoomed in to the max.

Yes Neuro
It is time/would be needed to change/to adjust these Non-MIDI Pixel Action things
into long missing
MIDI Tick movement/position Actions
:
2 Actions: Move notes left/right one pixel
1 Action: Lengthen notes one pixel
2 Actions:Move CC events left/right one pixel

into

Move Notes left/right one Tick
Lengthen Notes one tick
Move CC events left/right one Tick

But as Julian already wrote it is not a bug..
These pixel|event MIDI Edit actions are more deprecated/outdated.

BTW. Maybe and I hope for some people edit/drawing/moving etc.pp at exact MIDI Tick positions
'Source and also Project timeline´ mutates into a learning effect"

Moving etc. pp
other like within the exact Tick position like
moving by pixels is really bullshit.
It is the same bullshit like moving
1 Audio Sample 1 pixel right or left.
Or whatever unit which would be lower as the lowest possible unit resolution.

The viewing display position would simply often not really match the real world position.
Why should I do that? Only for the eyes?
And the result is that many people today and after long years of doing meanwhile really thinking,
even if they had to know better, that moving XX pixel forward or backwards would also and always reflect the real event timeline position..

This simply does not correspond to reality

I completely agree. I wonder if we should create an FR then.

Absolutely. Never could quite see the logic behind using pixels for this...

^^ Ivansc

" Neutronic: I wonder if we should create an FR then"

the px actions above are simply deprecated, don´t work anymore.
I mean, these outdated actions should be changed into tick movements without an extra FR, hopefully sometime.

Otherwise:
^^
The bug is that they dont work without doing hundreds of action loops, or clicks.
