Default "Community forks are better"?

I'm confused by the title of the sticky at the top of this forum, "WDL repository drops iPlug (since community forks are better)".

What "community forks" are better than iPlug? Is there some other cross-platform development package now being used by everyone that supersedes WDL-OL iPlug?

WDL-OL is itself one of those "better community forks". IPlug used to be a Cockos project in their WDL library, but they dropped it because they no longer had the time and incentive to keep it up to date. (Because the Reaper DAW became their number one priority.)
