Commerical Lisence: How many instances at the same time?
How many instances of Reaper can my company use at the same time with one commercial license?
I know what it says about discounted license.
In my situation, two instances on two different computers would be needed. I work at a theatre, one production in rehearsals, and one production out on the road, at the same time.

Then two.

If you own multiple computers, you may install the same license key on all of them, as long as you only use REAPER on one computer at a time.

In your case using two at same time that's normally two licenses.
If OTOH one person was using two weedy but networked computers for one project at a time I would say you would only need one license (at least for your conscience).
After all you could be using one far more powerful computer than both combined. One might have just two cores, another sixteen..
Which then begs the question what really constitutes one computer?
Two instances doing entirely different things simultaneously that's something different.
I only use one PC, not networked FWIW.

In my case it would be one of the computers, whis is doing reharsals would doing it every day, playback and record. The one on tour, might be recording for two hours, then playing back for ten minutes the day after (and repeat). No editing or such will be used. Just playback and record.

It's not up to me. There's no real world enforcement, just good will here.
I think the licence conditions are worded in such a way to stop people taking unfair advantage by using one license for more than one user in a successful studio situation, or wherever.

Maybe the goodwill gesture called for here is just to email support@cockos.com and ask what they think. I feel like that usage fits within one commercial license, but like Softsynth I have no authority whatsoever. :-)
And if you are bothered by it you can always use some free program for the tracking/playback on the road, since you're not using any substantial features of reaper in that case.

I think the fact that you are asking what the 'right thing to do' is shows you have good morals and a conscience. I agree, send an email and see what they think of your situation. And please post it on here so we can all be aware

I picked Reaper because of the video function. So one can sit after rehearsals and get multitrack playback into the console while "watching" the theatre-play on a video monitor. No other of those free multitrack (only) DAW's which I know of support video. And since the template is already made during rehearsals, it would be so much easier to just use the same DAW. We can of course do as you said, use another free DAW on the road. But I'd like to keep it the same.

You can install Reaper on as many compupters as you like. Technically your company is limited to using it on only one computer at the same time. So you'd have to time it such that while Reaper is being used on the road for recordings, it's not also being used in the theatre for rehearsals, and vice versa.
In reality no one is going to check whether this is actually the case. I have a commercial license installed on multiple computers. It's possible I used it on multiple computers simulateously over the paste +decade or so; can't remember. Never had issues. I'd contact cockos (licensing@cockos.com) to be sure. I think the idea is that if say you are a company with 100 employees all using Reaper full time all the time, you have to get multiple licenses, not one license.
