Default OSC to MIDI

Hi guys. I'm messing around with touchOSC on my ipad. I fancied turning it into a drum pad to us with sampletank or another sample-playing-vst. The only problem is, while I can set osc to learn/control any parameter on my VSTs, I can't figure out how to bind it to midi events. For example, if I have a sample loaded on midi C1, how do I trigger than from OSC, is there anything built into reaper to do the conversion for me? I can't do it with the "last touched parameter" menu, as midi is not a parameter.

I thought that ReaSamplOmatic5000 would be able to do it, as it's made by cockos, but sadly. No.

Any ideas?

(just to clarify, I'm not wanting to program in an entire keyboard here, just 6 or so midi events. I just wondered if there is a quick way to do it built into reaper)

No, not inside REAPER. But it's easy to use something like Pure data, OSCulator, GlovePIE, etc. to do that.

download Touch OSC Bridge, that should do the trick.
It's on hexler.net also, easy to use.

Sorry for the delay guys, I've been ill the last few days.

Thanks for the Touch OSC Bridge suggestion. I'm having a little difficulty with it though, or rather with reaper.

I've set it up, and on reaper's meter I can see the midi input firing when I touch a key on TouchOSC, but I can't hear anything from my VSTi, it doesn't seem to be detecting the input at all.

But if I hit record, the midi data is recorded and I can then play it back through the VSTi fine. Any idea what's going on?

Fixed it. I hadn't set record arm and monitoring: on.

Another question though, how do you get reaper to re-send all control information? When I switch interfaces on TouchOSC, they work, but they haven't been filled in with data from reaper, until I move a control.

Is there an action for this?

I think it's not possible right now. there is no midifeedback in reaper like we have with OSC.

Sorry, crossed wires. I was talking about osc there. When I switch Fromm a midi layout in touch osc to a standard osc layout (which I have previously selected as a control surface in reaper), it isn't populated with data. Is there an action to resend osc data?

I think there is a "refresh all control surfaces action" in reaper.
I'm on holiday right now and not with my computer till monday, so I can't say for sure.
maybe search the forum for "refresh"?
