Reaper 5.91 > Vst3 has wrong channel count?
Hi,
When I work in a track with 6 channels a VST3 plugin doesn't get informed by the correct channel count. It wants to stay in stereo. With 5.90 I did not have this problem. This also happens for a session created in 5.90 and opened in 5.91. All VST3-plugins get informed of two channels only.
Please see the gif: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15AZ...ew?usp=sharing
This is on Windows 10@64 bit running Reaper in 64 bit.
Would be cool if somebody could have a look into it.
Many thanks and best wishes,

Right-click the plugin in question and make sure "Inform plugin when track channel count changes" is checked?

Thanks. I will try this when I'm back home again.
Should be this option be on by default? The trouble is that option is that older sessions get changed if the option is not on. And in complex session it'll be a bit tricky to spot offending plugin.
Anyhow, I'll try later at home.

You can close all of your sessions, then go to the FX browser, and change this setting for all of your VST3 (or just the ones you think should support multichannel properly), then load any projects.

Hi Justin,
Many thanks for your suggestion, too. I've checked now but the "inform plug-in when track channel count changes" is enabled and still the plugins are only in stereo. I've found no way to force Reaper to run the VST3 in multi-channel mode.
Hmm. Not sure what to do now.
Bests,

That setting needs to be enabled before the plug-in is instantiated, if that matters.
There's also a per-instance option that lets you override the instance channel count (if the VST3 supports multichannel, that is) -- if you right click the I/O button for the VST3 instance, you can choose from the "Request VST3 Bus Channel Count" menu.

thanks justin,
this has worked now. with forcing the plugin to run in muli-channels via the IO-button it has worked. disabling and enabling "inform plug-in when track channel count changes" seems not to make a difference. it's odd, i did not have this problem in 5.9.
but at least i have a workaround now. many thanks.
