Default Question about normalizing tracks (LUFS)

I just wanted to confirm that when I normalize my tracks to the proper LUSF, what it does is makes dramatic changes to each of my faders. I just wanted to confirm if that is what is supposed to happen and if not, what should I be doing?

Is it OK to apply any VSTs before normalizing or does that even matter?

If you do normalize selected tracks using eg. the action SWS/BR: Normalize loudness of selected items/tracks..., the change is indeed applied to the track faders. The items stay as they were. If you use the selected items as a target, the track faders keep their value and the items are changed.

When to apply VSTs depends on what you want to achieve with all this and with what VSTs. You could try it both ways and see which way you like it more.

You Said:

"If you use the selected items as a target, the track faders keep their value and the items are changed."

I'm not sure what to do to do it this way. Please tell me how to do this.

Thanks.

Search the action SWS/BR: Normalize loudness of selected items/tracks... and select it.
SWS/BR: Normalize loudness window opens.
Select "items" from the dropdown and adjust the other parameters if you need, then hit "Normalize".
