Hideable markers/regions on individual basis
I sometimes have dozens of markers and regions in my project. Some for editing-notes, some for content-notes(for chapter marks in my podcasts) some for other stuff.
The problem is: sometimes these markers become too many. Even if I try to make them distinctive from each other by coloring them or adding text like "_content: http://www.doctor.who" it quickly can become a mess.
So I would love to have the option to hide/unhide markers/regions, including a way to hide/unhide them via ReaScript.
That way, I could hide all markers currently not relevant for me atm.
I tried to script it by simply removing and readding them, which doesn't work, if I use ripple-all-editing, as ripple-all-editing can move markers/regions accordingly, which is almost impossible to code in ReaScript.
Having the option of hiding/unhinding markers/regions and them still be affected by ripple-all-editing would be a nice feature to keep the project's arrangeview cleaner, by showing only the markers needed.

The current workarround is to use heda script for region from items, and use text items (empty items) to edit your regions.
This open quite a lot of possibility,
like you can have several tracks/sets of regions markers,
you can then hide or display them,
you can split and quantize and all features that you can do on an item will be done on your region
https://reaper.hector-corcin.com/app/regions-tracks
Of course, more native tools for region and markers editing would be welcome

It would be enough for me to add the "Show/Hide" column to the Region/Marker Manager. Only selected Regions/Markers could then be displayed.

Bump
@PelF
This would be a nice addition to my request. But having this programmeable would make actions possible, who hide/unhide only markers of a certain color or a certain prefix, like "_my editing notes:" using shortcuts.
It would be great to run toggle hide markers-actions associated with the F-Keys.

It's not duplicate, as I want to hide individual markers/regions not the whole markerlane or dockers containing it.
But I agree, that these three are linked to some extend.

+1. If we added appropriate actions and API to this, many users would benefit.

I had also asked for such a feature in a separate thread so I wholeheartedly support this FR!!
It makes total sense, common Cockos!
+1!

Use SWS marker actions... You can load and save marker sets. I usually have a song set (intro verse chorus etc) and then other sets for different edit markers or cut points if I'm working on video

For such tasks as marking song sections, I much prefer to use Regions for the obvious reasons.
And even if what you suggest is a viable workaround, it's still a workaround involving more steps than this FR would have if it were implemented.
The way I'd imagine it working is, you select a track and all it's associated Regions/Markers appear. Deselect, they're hidden...that's it! Simple, efficient.

Yes, with my FR implemented, your idea is simple to achieve.
Two actions:
"Associate closest marker/region to selected track.lua"
and
"Toggle trackmarkers visibility of selected track".
Done in 15-20 minutes with my fr implemented in Reaper.
Edit: maybe a third action to disassociate markers/regions from tracks as well.
And a background script could show/hide them automatically, depending on trackselection with unassociated ones being shown all the time.

+1 because I only want markers to enable seeking to specific locations using the number keys. I don't need (or want) to actually see them.

Another thing probably: having hidden markers/regions has the potential of accidentally deleting hidden markers without knowing it.
An optional warning, that says "you are about to delete hidden markers/regions" would be nice.
It should have an option to show affected markers(basically unhiding them) so one can see, if it's ok to delete them as well or not.

This seems like a no-brainer. Surprised to see this isn't possible in Reaper.

ReBumpa!
To my suprise, I'm not aware of another DAW that has such a feature!? Yet it seems so obvious and common sense.
Keep in mind I asked ChatGPT and as we all know, he ain't that smart after all 😏
