So, thanks for the report and please keep on reporting such missing langpack entries!
Well, I will and I found a few - see below.

I think it's preferable to wait before releasing a new template because there are other goodies in the work.
I was always curious, why it isn't possible to fix these things at the time the updates are available, but never got an answer. I mean, can the hashcodes only generated from the sourcecode or is there some other way - perhaps a way that makes things faster and would at the same time ease things for you as well?
Same goes for issues with Umlauts; it seems as if they have to be fixed one by one, instead of having the opportunity to making a change in the software, so such issues won't occur anymore.

Anyway, strings, I couldn't find were:

all licensing strings shown in the caption of the main window, e.g. "Licensed for personal/small business use" and so on.

Furthermore

Code:
[DLG_263] ; IDD_MIDIOUT_CONFIG
Send clock to this device
No SSP/continue
Code:
[DLG_268] ; IDD_PROGRAMENV
Learn phase
Code:
[DLG_422] ; IDD_CFG_WASAPI
Shared loopback (CAUTION)
Code:
[DLG_427] ; IDD_RENDERQ
Date/Time
Project
Bounds
Format
Render Target
Code:
[MENU_310] ; IDR_CONTEXTS_10
Recently used
Code:
[explorer_DLG_101] ; IDD_MAIN
No media file loaded
Code:
[explorer_menu]
Search in subfolders
Search in folder names
Make database from current folder
Show source properties for current media
Unload current media
Show in Explorer/Finder
Enable looping when inserting selected portion of media
Code:
[resample]
Medium (64pt Sinc)
Good (192pt Sinc)
Better 384pt Sinc)
HQ (512pt Sinc)
Extreme HQ (768pt HQ Sinc)
There are also strings missing in the Extensions. For completeness I'll list them here also, but if you prefer to have them in the Extensionos thread I can post them there once again.

Code:
[sws_DLG_108] ; IDD_TRACKLIST
Show all tracks
Show SWS Snapshots
Snapshot current track visibility
Code:
[sws_DLG_115] ; IDD_AUTOCOLOR
(name)
Code:
[sws_DLG_120] ; IDD_EXOCOM_PARDLG
none
Code:
[sws_DLG_154] ; IDD_SNM_FIND
Find in:
Item names (all takes)
Item names
Media filenames (all takes)
Media filenames
Item notes
Track names
Track notes
Marker/region names
Zoom/Scroll

Besides that there are some other issues:

[DLG_185] ; IDD_SAVEOPTIONS
[DLG_570] ; IDD_SAVEOPTIONS_API_HEADER
[DLG_265] ; IDD_AUHOST

Scaling in these dialogs (in fact the first two are frames embedded in the file save dialog) don't work.

The following I found quite funny:
Code:
[projsettings]
8F8A57D1AEE90E6A=39 Bit Integer
It probably should be 64 Bit Integer, I guess.

In the SWS-extensions the following strings are translated but won't show up in the window.

Code:
[sws_DLG_161] ; IDD_SNM_CYCLACTION

C9CC1926902BCA47
117E0D86FA51FFEB
DE5356E6F7313312

7408E29A4B57047E
F239419A0BE6BBB4
CFD405329AB67385
Also there is an Umlaut-issue in
Code:
[sws_DLG_181] ; IDD_BR_CONTEXTUAL_TOOLBARS
with all rolldown-menues on the right side of the contextual toolbar window.

I hope I didn't mess things up too much, since a few issues might be solved by now.

HTH anyway.

Good Job ¡¡¡ Mr.Data ¡¡¡

It will be really wonderfull, helpfull and time saver for people to translate the hole langpack like us to have what Jeff said, a complementary langpack file "linked" to the R5 v.x so we can tranlate the especific new lines each time them are included.

I like a lot the way you expressed the missig lines, it could be the clear way to express those complementary langpack.

What do you think ?

Another sentence that does not appear for being translated:

Main menú/File/Projectsetting/ : "Set 0:00 to edit cursor"

There seems to be a bug with the "E57128C4770463B2=untitled MIDI item" parameter. I renamed its value to simply "MIDI" and it works fine with drawn items, but whenever something is recorded the suffix changes back to "untitled MIDI item" for some reason.

Yes, I can confirm this.

There is another issue with

Code:
[midi_DLG_121] ; IDD_QUANTIZE

When opening the dialog in the translated (German) version, instead of 'Raster' you see 'Gri' until you select something else. Just when you select 'Raster' it shows 'Raster'.

Thank you for confirming the bug, Mr. Data. I can also confirm the one you reported, though the parameter corresponding to the drop-down menu "grid" value you specified (there are two of them there) is "3547B294F721DD33" located in "[midi]", not in "[midi_DLG_121] ; IDD_QUANTIZE". Indeed, if the value is changed to anything but "grid" (seems to NOT be case sensitive), the bug occurs. Though for some reason on my machine I do not even have to select anything, I just click the arrow to expand the menu and the value is back to normal.

Oh, I see, my bad. Thanks.
There isn't even a string one could translate into 'Raster' in '[midi_DLG_121] ; IDD_QUANTIZE', only a ;^-string that would translate as 'Raster:'.

However, I just discovered that there's another issue with this in case in some language translates 'Grid' with a special character e.g. Umlaut or something. It won't work, 'cos you would not see the correct string.

There are more strings that don't seem to be available in the template and hence can't be translated.

For example all the file formats in Load/Save dialogs:

Code:
BMP files (*.BMP)
ICO files (*.ICO)
JPEG files (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JFIF)
PCX files (*.PCX)
PNG files (*.PNG)
All supported images
All files (*.*)
All files
%s files (*.%s)
RPP files (*.RPP)
Project Files (*.RPP,*.EDL,*.TXT,clipsort.log)
REAPER Project Backup Files (*.RPP-BAK)
REAPER Preset Library (*.RPL)
ReaperConfigZip files (*.ReaperConfigZip)
ReaperMenu files (*.ReaperMenu)
MenuSet files (*.ReaperMenuSet)
All menu files (*.ReaperMenu[Set])
REAPER Track Template (*.RTrackTemplate)
REAPER FX Chain (*.RfxChain)
ReaScale files (*.ReaScale)
KeyMap Files (*.ReaperKeyMap)
ChanMap Files (*.ReaperChanMap)
Color Theme Files (*.ReaperTheme)
Project Bay files (*.ReaBay)
MIDI files (*.MID)
EXE files (*.exe)
key files (*.rk, *.txt)
REAPER FX Chain (*.RfxChain)
Executable files (*.exe)
VST3 presets (*.vstpreset)
Patch files (*.FXP)
Bank files (*.FXB)
Patch/Bank files (*.FXP, *.FXB)
New filename (*.%s)
Further the parameter settings for the 'simple windowed' algo, which probably looks like this:

Code:
%dms window, %dms fade
Then (if I'm not too wrong) in

Code:
[DLG_155] ; IDD_WAVESINK_CFG
Large files:
there's a hashcode missing as well as for the subsequent roll-down menu, holding the following menu items:

Code:
Auto WAV/Wave64
Auto WAV/RF64
Force WAV
Force Wave64
Force RF64
also the

Code:
[ddp_help]
dialog can't be resized with '5CA1E' and neither '\r' nor '\n' works to make the text fit in the window.

Also for the Prefs ->Mouse modifiers dialog there is no hashcode for the string

Code:
Dafault action
HTH

Sorry Ecl for answering that late. Didn't mean to ignore you. I just had the feeling I answered your post already, but looking through the thread I couldn't find my reply.
So I suspect I'm going slowly but surely insane.
But anyway: Thank you very much.

It would be great to have such linked langpack files, but I'm not sure, whether the way you understand it is what Jeffos meant. I understand it the way, that we get langpack files more frequently, not that we get langpack files that only contain new strings (or old strings with new hashcodes). But I could be wrong though.

There are missing a few strings in the input rolldown menu of
Code:
[DLG_262] ; IDD_TCCONFIG
which should probably go to section
Code:
[exttc]
ASIO Positioning Protocol
LTC: Left
LTC: Right
Might be, that 'LTC: ', 'MTC: ' and 'SPP: ' are separate strings as well.

There's a problem with:

Code:
[DLG_273] ; IDD_OPENPROJECT
EE0709F54123ED0E
E705DACA1F54B88B
The strings belonging to these hashcodes are translated, but just don't show up for some reason.

Your question made me investigate it a little further and it turns out there are actually two scenarios for recorded MIDI (using MIDI controllers):

1) Prefix TrackNumber with suffix "Recorded MIDI" when Record: input (audio or MIDI) mode is used.
E.g. "01-Piano-Recorded MIDI"

2) Suffix "untitled MIDI item" when any of Record: MIDI overdub/replace modes is activated.
E.g. "Piano untitled MIDI item"

The first one does not seem to have a way to be changed via langpacks at all. I was talking about the 2nd one in my original post, because I was not aware of the 1st. But now I think it would be great if the E57128C4770463B2 parameter controlled both scenarios. Also, I think it would be a nice idea to change "untitled MIDI item" to "Recorded MIDI" (with no prefix) for those who don't mess with langpacks and to give it a more unified look. And thank you very much for looking into this, Justin. It is really appreciated!

^ should be fixed for the next build

__

Thank you guys for the detailed reports (and a special thank you to Mr Data!).

Most of these issues will be fixed in 5.1, but, as usual, you'll need a new langpack template, coming soon...

Just a couple of remarks:
  • Licensing strings (e.g. "Licensed for personal/small business use") are intentionally not localized (not to easily fake licenses).
The same goes for file filters (e.g. Project Files *.RPP,*.EDL,*.TXT,clipsort.log) but for safety reasons: it's technically possible, but the langpack would be responsible of null/double null string terminations, potential crashes here...
  • File browser options can't be scaled at all, indeed (e.g. IDD_SAVEOPTIONS, IDD_OPENPROJECT). We'll have to live with it I think.
  • About SWS: ecl has reported a major localization issue: many of your translations are broken ATM :/
=> Please, do not update your langpacks: this issue will be automatically fixed for you in the next SWS release (v2.8.2)

SWS v2.8.2 is out.
It should fix "broken" langpacks as well as the issues Mr Data has reported above (new SWS template langpack).

About REAPER, I forgot...

Jeffos, when you said the bug should be fixed for the next build you meant 5.1pre4 or the one after that? I'm asking because the behavior is the same in 5.1pre4.

EDIT: nevermind, I think I got it. Missed the "coming soon" part in "Most of these issues will be fixed in 5.1, but, as usual, you'll need a new langpack template, coming soon..." and tried with the most recent one.

Well, this seems to be more than reasonable to me.

The main issue here is the word "files" ie. "Files" for most entries. For other strings like "REAPER Track Template" or "REAPER FX Chain" it would look a bit cheesy if we had to leave them as they are.
It would be quite fine, if there would be a way to at least translate the strings prior to the brackets, since the filename extensions wouldn't be translated anyway, so leaving the end of those strings unchanged, wouldn't put us into danger of such a problem.

I've already changed the strings (at least in the mentioned dialog and hope they're still easy to understand)

All strings show up translated here. However, a few weeks ago I discarded all "possibly obsolete" sections to minimize the size of the langpack and nearly none of the SWS actions were displayed as translation, but I wasn't sure, whether I had done everything right, so I reverted to the file with all obsolete sections for the time being.

I've also observed that none of the stings in dialog
Code:
[sws_DLG_154] ; IDD_SNM_FIND
besides the window caption is available in the langpack file, as there are:

Code:
Find in:
Zoom/Scroll
Find all
Previous
Next
Item names
Item names (all takes)
Media filenames
Media filenames (all takes)
Item notes
Track names
Track notes
Marker/region names
Also I couldn't find entries for
Code:
"S&M - Theme Helper"
HTH

Default Problems with UTF-8 and encoding

Hi ¡¡¡¡

Some Reaper users have report me about some special characters broken in my Langpack.

I tried to solve it replacing them in Sublime text 3 and saving option "UTF_8 with Boom" but still there.

The thing is that in Mac all those character are all right but using the same langpack in pc they break out but...

.... """only in some menús"", besides being the same words and character, for instance:

(special characters are "ñ" and "accent "´")

words like - "año" or "región"

I attach you and image so you can have a look better:

As you can see "región" is all right in the main insert menu but not in wildcard help for instance.

Then, "ñ" character is right in Fx Add menú "Añadir" but not in "Año"

Why does this happens?
Any Idea for solving it ?

Yes, that's what I meant.

It would be quite fine, if there would be a way to at least translate the strings prior to the brackets, since the filename extensions wouldn't be translated anyway, so leaving the end of those strings unchanged, wouldn't put us into danger of such a problem.
We should be able to improve that at some point.

Yes, it depends on the SWS template langpack you have translated actually. The issue was introduced in v2.7.2 (July 2015), so if you have used an older template langpack, it's ok. For reference, the issue was that many things like "SWS: Save selected item(s)" were slightly renamed into "SWS: Save selected items" but this was enough to break translations (mostly action names and undo points).

See the $user wildcard in your screenshot? BlackCrystal™?
I think there's a mix of UTF8/ANSI string encoding because of that ™ (read at runtime). We should able to fix that...

I use win XP in that computer.

It´s broken because of that ??

The template is well the way it is then ??

Thanks

Just found a few missing hashcodes for the recently added new wildcards.

Code:
[render_wildcard]
1 for the first item or region of the same name, 2 for the second...
start time of the media item, render region, or time selection
end time of the media item, render region, or time selection
start time in beats of the media item, render region, or time selection
end time in beats of the media item, render region, or time selection
1 for the first item or region on the timeline, 2 for the second...
Yet another thing:

Code:
[sws_DLG_154] ; IDD_SNM_FIND
has now all its strings (thank you for that ), but their translations won't show up in the actual dialog.

No, I used 2.8.1.0, so it was probably me, having something done wrong.

Strings for the following hashcodes are translated, but don't show as such:
Code:
[DLG_273] ; IDD_OPENPROJECT
EE0709F54123ED0E
E705DACA1F54B88B

Code:
[sws_DLG_148] ; IDD_PADRE_ENVPROCESSOR
796015BB879A3729=Selected take(s) (MIDI)
Shouldn't this be in the 'Target' roll down menu? Under which circumstances can this been seen?

In the cycle editor the submenu of the "Insert statement" menu item is missing (or should I say, I wasn't quite sure about, whether it should be translated at all, but in the end, I think it should be done, to reflect the other translations directly in the menu.

Code:
[sws_DLG_161] ; IDD_SNM_CYCLACTION
IF
IF NOT
IF AND
IF NAND
IF OR
IF NOR
IF XOR
IF XNOR
ELSE
ENDIF
LOOP
ENDLOOP
CONSOLE
LABEL
You did a fine job, Jeffos!
There is still a little thing left, already mentioned above, that I can't find in the template file:

Code:
[sws_DLG_120] ; IDD_EXOCOM_PARDLG
none
To be a bit nitpicky ... I discovered, that if you trigger the action 41535 (Show splash screen on startup) the screen shows "Initializing..." (while on 'real' startup of Reaper translated strings can be seen), but there's no hashcode to translate this.

A little request:

Since we are not able to align elements otherwise, we can use the space character for the time being, but when using merge_langpacks.exe, tailing space characters are discarded.

It would be nice, if merge_langpacks.exe wouldn't do the following things:
  1. erase tailing blanks ('cos erasing space characters is ruining alignments)
  2. Change Umlauts and special characters in output file ('cos they have to be replaced on each new merge otherwise).
  3. Don't mark '5CA1E' with " ######## not in template, possibly obsolete" and leave it, where it was in the source langpack file.
Probably it's the best idea to leave lines that are with certainty used in the source and the target langpack totally unmodified.

It would save us from having to do a lot of unnecessary work.

Maybe it would even be good, to have (optionally) the choice to precede all lines in blocks that are marked "possibly obsolete" with a semicolon, so we can see at a glance, if something still is used.

Here is an issue with the Crossfade Editor that has some conjunction with localization, because this doesn't happen, when not using a langpack.

When opening its window for the first time in a session, a lot of elements are misaligned and cover others. After closing and reopening the window everything looks fine.
Possibly this is due to scaling.

Hi,

Some news about localization issues here

The issue with the Crossfade Editor (see post 272) is still present in v5.12.

What is this?
Code:
[vst]
DA3DBCCC70652D38=VST: effSetSpeakerArrangement setting tweak

missing hashcode for strings:

Code:
(probably) [fxadd]
Recently used
Code:
(probably) [MENU_102] ; IDR_MENU1
New subproject
Move items to new subproject
Move tracks to new subproject
Code:
[DLG_478] ; IDD_PREFS_RENDER
Tail length:
ms, render tails when:
Rendering entire project length (master mix or stems)
Rendering project time selection or regions
Rendering selected media items
Freezing tracks
Code:
[prefs_render_help]
When rendering the length of the entire project, apply the tail length setting.
When rendering a time selection or project regions, apply the tail length setting.
When rendering selected media items, apply the tail length setting.
When freezing tracks, apply the tail length setting.
By default, only media items will be rendered when freezing. If there are FX on the track, the entire track can be rendered, which may be slower.
Code:
[video2_MENU_105] ; IDR_MENU2
Get width/height/framerate from project
Code:
[prefs_mediapeaks_help]
Draw peaks (graphical representation of audio loudness and MIDI notes) for media items.
Code:
[DLG_199] ; IDD_SNAPSETTINGS
Use the same grid division in arrange view and MIDI editor

These actions aren't in the template (yet):
Code:
 Toggle ripple editing all tracks
  Toggle ripple editing per-track
Item: Move items to subproject (non-destructive glue)
Move edit cursor to nearest zero crossing in items
  Track: Move tracks to subproject
Grid: Set to 1/3 (1/2 triplet)
Grid: Set to 1/5 (1/4 quintuplet)
Grid: Set to 1/6 (1/4 triplet)
Grid: Set to 1/7 (1/4 septuplet)
  Grid: Set to 1/9
Grid: Set to 1/10 (1/8 quintuplet)
Grid: Set to 1/12 (1/8 triplet)
  Grid: Set to 1/18
Grid: Set to 1/24 (1/16 triplet)
Grid: Set to 1/48 (1/32 triplet)
Grid: Set to 2/3 (whole note triplet)
  Grid: Set to 3
FX: Show parameter modulation/link for last touched FX parameter
  Insert new subproject...
There might be more.

Action 4DA6D8511D33D252 (Show startup splash screen) still shows the splash screen with "initializing..." instead of a translated string (since there's no hashcode )

Also the strings for the rolldown menu of [DLG_438] ; IDD_CUSTOMIZE_MENU are missing:

Code:
Main file
Main edit
Main view
Main insert
Main item
Main track
Main options
Main actions

The following string for the rolldown menu "Channels:" in [DLG_171] ; IDD_CONSOLDLG is missing:

Code:

The following strings are translated, but (still) won't show as such:
Code:

Move edit cursor forward one measure (no seek)
Move edit cursor to next tempo or time signature change
Move edit cursor to previous tempo or time signature change
Move edit cursor to start of current measure (no seek)
Move edit cursor to start of next measure (no seek)

The following strings belonging to these hashcodes are translated, but (still) won't show as such:
Code:

LCF options tweak: (not present in template)
Code:
Render format page "WavPack Lossless Compressor":
Include project filename in BWF data (46B10D8B633443CD)
^^ This one, however, shows up translated in [DLG_155] ; IDD_WAVESINK_CFG.

5CA1E doesn't work on [DLG_286] ; IDD_ITEMNOTES at all and on [sws_DLG_128] ; IDD_TAKEMIXER as expected.

Thanks for checking, guys.

Default Bypass FX / FX Offline

Great job Mr.Data ¡¡¡¡

I´m optimizing my Langpack (Spanish) and have a little doubt for using the right expression.

What´s the difference between Bypass a FX and Set it Offline ??
Is there any or it´s just the same?

Thanks ¡¡¡
