Default Open plugin from Monitoring FX chain

Hi there, is there a way to assign a shortcut to open a particular plugin from Monitoring FX chain in floating window?

I can open a particular plugin plugin for a selected track using action 'SWS/S&M: Show FX chain for selected tracks, FX [number]' but I can't select monitoring chain

I'll try this, would love to have my Monitor FX loudness meter and spectrogram on a keyboard shortcut, and/or toolbar button.

There's a script in Archie's repository (assuming you have Reapack installed): https://github.com/ArchieScript/Arch...ster/index.xml -> Script: Archie_MonitorFx; Smart template monitoring Toggle Open Fx in float.lua (or just look for "archie monitor" in your actions).
When you run that, it pops up a setup dialog box, and instructions on how to use it. When you've configured it, it then creates a new script based on your choices. That new script can then be assigned to a shortcut or a toolbar button
For me it created "Script: Archie_MonitorFx; Toggle Open and activate float Fx - Close Fx 'Fx-1.lua" based on my choices. It opens the JS loudness meter that's the only plugin in my monitoring fx.

Thanks, I've never used a script in Reaper, or Reapack, but I'll give it a go, might be back to ask questions later!

[EDIT] OK, I installed Repack no probs, but how do I get the correct Archie script? When I click on that Archie link it's just code. Do I need to save the whole .xml page and import it into Repack?

Basically yeah.
Extensions menu -> Reapack -> Import repositories -> paste the github link in my post in the dialog box that pops up -> click ok and it downloads the repository.
Then: Actions menu -> Show action list -> type "archie monitor" in the filter -> double click the smart template script to run it, and then proceed as in my previous post

Thanks Paul, I think I successfully downloaded the .xml into Reaper, but then I got to this part:

Quote:
type "archie monitor" in the filter
And nothing shows up, any ideas? Nothing shows up for "archie" at all.

If you open Extensions menu -> Reapack -> Browse packages, and then type in "archie monitor" in the filter entry, does the smart template script show up as installed (lowercase i in the first column)? If it doesn't, right click on it and choose install.
If it does show up as installed, and restarting Reaper doesn't help, then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

Thanks again, I finally got most of the way there, will try and assign it to my Monitor FX meters tomorrow. I'm hoping to have two buttons on the main toolbar, one for the Loudness Meter and one for the Spectrogram.

I did it. It took me a while to work it all out, but now I have my Loudness Meter and my Spectrum Analyser from the Monitoring FX section, on separate buttons on my main toolbar, and it works flawlessly! Thank you for helping with this elegant solution, I'll probably add a few more buttons now too.
