I have a feature request: could snapshots remember the location of controls?

Would allow for something like a "tab" system, where we could cycle between different plugins if we store the unused controls at the bottom of the strip where they aren't seen until they're needed.

As an example: a compressor snapshot that cycles between different compressor VST's controls as the snapshots are changed and only displays the relevant ones.

I've read this several times without fully understanding exactly what you mean. Are you suggesting the controls get moved around depending on the snapshot?

Possible I guess - not something I've thought of before. My main worry is exactly how to set up the snapshots with the controls in different positions without it feeling really clunky.

Can you please explain again - so that I can fully understand what you mean (sorry for being a dunce ) - possibly including the way in which you suggest it would be set up in the GUI.

Sorry I was worried I didn't explain it thoroughly enough!

Yes you have it correct. I would love for snapshots to be able to remember the positions of the controls and/or their values.

For example: right now for compression I have 5 different "modules (the sections on my strip)" on my strip taking up a lot of space. If snapshots remembered control position, I could set it up so that I have 1 snaposhot that switches between the 5 compressors in one "module". I would save 1 snapshot per compressor, with it's controls being in the "module" and all of the other compressors controls being off-screen (at the bottom of the strip.) To switch between my different compressors I would just need to switch the snapshot!

Mind you this would only work if the snapshots had an option to remember just the position instead of the control value- otherwise I would lose my current settings by switching to a different compressor. Would be great if you could toggle the snapshots to remember either control value, or position, or both.

Is that clearer? Sorry again for the confusing post

No worries. I'm not sure the snapshot system is the best place to do this - specifically as it's more a preset system for storing control values - and optimised for this purpose. Your request is more of a 'screenset' or 'layout' sort of thing - but relating to controls rather than windows.

I've got a fair few things to get done at the moment - but will continue to ponder the best way to try to accomplish something like this - I like the idea.

I think it would be a separate thing. I don't think I'd incorporate it into the current snapshot system - It would become too complex and would hit performance. But no reason why a second system couldn't be added that dealt with positioning/hiding of controls and switching them on/off.

I'm not saying I will do it yet - will have to consider how it will affect things - but I do like the idea - if I can fit it in neatly.

Bonjour,

J'essaie ce script pour piloter mon "Torpedo Cab", mais j'ai ce problème au lancement :

Please ensure you have the '__default', 'SimpleFlat_48', '__Snapshot', '__XY' and '__XYTarget' files in your LBXCS_resources/controls/ folder.
You can get these files from the LBX Stripper project on github - in the LBXCS_resources zip file

Pourtant j'ai bien suivi la procédure d'installation.

Merci

Hi,
if the google translator correct,
you need to download Resources folder :
https://github.com/L-B-X/LBXStripper..._resources.zip

click to "View Raw" download and extract to:

Hi Domi,

Please check the location you have put the resources folder.

Should be:

<Reaper resources folder>/Scripts/LBX/LBXCS_resources/controls
<Reaper resources folder>/Scripts/LBX/LBXCS_resources/graphics
<Reaper resources folder>/Scripts/LBX/LBXCS_resources/strips
<Reaper resources folder>/Scripts/LBX/LBXCS_resources/sets

...etc...

Where Reaper is the Reaper resources folder. So on my system:

C:\Users\[XXX]\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Scripts\LBX\LBXCS_resource s

[XXX] is the user.

If you place any of these folders in the wrong place - you will end up with this error.

If you're on Mac - wherever the Reaper resources folder is.

If this doesn't work - please let me know - telling me the exact path where you have placed the LBXCS_resources.

Ah - I'm using JKnobman 1.3.2

maybe that explains incompatibility.

The Metalite paths are coming along. Have them traversing smoothly now. Had a bit of a shock when I found out Bezier curves change speed when you go round bends (during traversal) - but have this sorted now for pretty uniform movement if required.

Before contemplating any internal sequencing for path movement - I want to add fader assignment so you can move the path position using a JS fader. I have this working well - but need to make it flexible as it's hard coded at the moment. Of course - you then have complete control of path position via automation. Dunno really how useful this will be overall - it works as I wanted it - but it was a bit of holiday fun really (never used Bezier curves for anything - and wanted to have a play).

mostly for fx and synth morphing.

I was working with Bernstraw on a JS morphing tool in the past, check here:
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...ghlight=vmorph

I have also created one of my own xp morph controller in synthmaker.

but yours is the best so far.

Not quite. I have it working fine here - just want to be sure I'm not too inundated with bug reports. Not that I know of any - but there's a lot of code in this and probably a few things I've not tested yet.

v v soon!

Hey all,

Well it's been a whole 7 days without an update.

So I thought I'd provide one - with the paths as shown over the holidays...

This has seen me learn a whole lot of new mathematical stuff and test my problem solving skills to the max - but I got there...

I only hope there aren't too many bugs I found a bunch in testing on a new project - but squished those - so hopefully not many more... I'm sure you'll let me know promptly!!

Ok - I have provided a video showing simple set up - especially for automating the paths as this uses a third party JSFX - which simply provides dummy faders that do 'nothing' - but I can use them to provide automation via Reapers automation envelope tracks. This is shown in the video.

https://youtu.be/Y10tEQhuKcY

A link to the Faderbox JSFX can be found in this post (thanks should be provided to Banned as I assume he created it):

http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...06&postcount=2

If ever you have a problem with the link - let me know - I'll post the equivalent code as it's so simple - but thought I should link to the original source as I didn't come up with it.

The key is to create a new track (best when Stripper is not running - so it gets found when stripper loads) - and label the track:

__LBX_CTL

Then insert an instance of Faderbox on it (as in vid). Now when you run stripper and create paths or a metalite surface - you can assign faders to control the position of the xy locator - and the position along the path.

Of course - you can also midi learn the faderbox faders so you can control using an external controller

And if you need more than 32 faders - then simply add a new instance of faderbox on the __LBX_CTL track. Be careful not to re-order the faderboxes in the fx list as this will probably mess things up a little at the moment. Try not to add more faders than you need though - as each one adds a tiny bit to the main run loop. The whole paths thing is a little more CPU intensive compared to some other functions - but perfectly usable for me on my laptop.

Any probs - bugs/errors or simply don't get it - let me know...

just in case if anyone face it: Last Touched param / show track envelope didn't work for FaderBox32 (was using v5.32pre5 - January 2 2017)
updating latest pre (v5.32pre6 - January 3 2017) fixed!

drawing envelopes works but recording automation from MetaLite & MetaPath to envelope doesn't.. (yet ?)

Hmmm...

First - can you tell me what your setting is for where you are saving the data. It should be in Settings - is the save to project folder ticked or unticked?

First check save location... can you find the files in C:\Users\64x\AppData\Roaming\REAPER/Scripts/LBX/LBXCS_resources/projsave/_2204512336/?

Or are they in project folder?

try switching save location?

These missing files suggest it's not saved the data properly (or in wrong place).

Few other things to try -

When you create the strip - save the project - because the data folder is named _2204512336 - this suggests you've not given the project a name. It shouldn't matter - but I've not time tonight to do a proper debug.

Then try adding again.

Or simply add the faderbox onto a track first (__LBX_CTL) - then create a new strip - and hit SAVE. Then save the project - then close the script and try reloading...

If nothing works - I'll have a proper look tomorrow - sorry for the hassles.

Did you try the previous version with the different saving method?? Did it work for you before - or is this first time? This looks related to that.

Aha - yeah - that might break it. Remember you're saving your script data in the resources folder at the moment - so deleting anything in it will also delete your projects script data! Will update resources on github tomorrow.

Might also consider moving save data folder outside resources so it doesn't get accidentally deleted.

Ah no - at the moment - the automation is only read from the envelope lane - not written. Will add soon. In the meantime - if you assign external controller to faders - you can record using those (not ideal for xy unless you have xy controller though - which i don't).

sorry for the hyperactivation

edit
as a final:
no sorry, no hassles ..
nothing to rush!
lets take a good sleep and continue tomorrow!

couldn't sleep...
real final
i don't know if its by the design...
seems we need to keep stripper window always open to read envelope automation back

Yeah - no way to avoid this - unless I was to create an 'invisible' script running in background always to deal with the automation. It's the script that is sending the XY data to the plugins - so if the script is not running - then the automation data will not be processed.

EDIT: I've thought about an alternative script for running the automation before - but it would significantly increase RAM usage - as it would need to 'know' the same stuff the main script does and there's no way of sharing thhis data.

as i tried to say i am ok with it

new found:
any plugin that you add to the __LBX_CTL track becomes extra fader

edit..
i think this is a little "pushing unnecessary hard" situation
i saw this when i was trying a temporary solution to automate XY (created xy pad vst in synthmaker)
...
then tried with rea eq ...
just for the record

Yes - this would happen at the mo :/ - I'm not actually checking what the plugin is - just that one is there. I will improve this soon... But don't put anything on the control track except Faderbox's for now

Technically - it should work though. first parameter in ReaEQ (or whatever plugin) would become controller for whatever Metalite parameter you assign it to! But you wouldn't necessarily end up with 32 - and you would probably not get correct ranges available. But it probably won't 'break' it.

The main reason I'll allow any plugin on there - is because technically - I might wish to adapt the faderbox in the future. I've hard coded 32 params though to save on CPU and increase efficiency - if I know all control plugs on the track only have 32 params - I don't need to check each plugin to work out which plugin fader is being moved/controlled/automated.

Nearly done with the recording automation from the pad Just need to add the path automation.

New update - includes Record Mode On/Off button within Metalite.

Setting Record Mode On - switches automation mode to Latch on __LBX_CTL track. Also prevents fader read automation for all parameters (currently - will improve to just recording params soon). Any movements in Metalite/Paths will be recorded to automation track.

Setting record mode off - switches auto mode to trim/read on __LBX_CTL track. Fader automation can now be read back from control track.

So if you want to record automation - just click the button on.

To stop recording and allow playback - switch off.

Hopefully this works ok - let me know.

Still needs a bit of refinement - but don't have time right now as lunchbreak nearly over!

Awesome - glad you're digging it!

A bit of fun I wanted to work on over Christmas.

Will be back to serious stuff soon - got to add knob/mouse wheel sensitivity options, macro (snapshot) knobs (still!! - but think these will benefit nicely from the fader automation now that's up and running!).

And 101 other things I'd said I'd look into adding but have yet to get round to!

it will only work if you are in a position to record the automation - that is have correctly set up the __LBX_CTL track - and inserted faders in the X/Y/PATH POS boxes...

If you still can't get it working - let me know.

it works! :P

one "bug", when rendering mp3, the LBX XY automation in mp3 outcome sounds different than it sounds in the project/real time.

I've not tried a mixdown yet. I'd be surprised if it worked at anything other than realtime - because there's no way the script could keep up. I don't know if it's even possible for Lua to cope with an offline render.

you would probably have to print the track in realtime before rendering - although a realtime render may work.

When I get the chance I'll do some testing to see if things can be made any easier - but not sure offline render would be possible.
