Will Ferrell did a comedy special where he was playing George Bush, called “You’re Welcome, America.” In that special he says the most ridiculous prayer ever, and that’s how he starts off the prayer …”Dear Blonde-haired, blue-eyed, not-at-all Arabic-looking Baby Jesus… almost Swedish-looking Baby Jesus.” Cuz remember everyone in the states was suddenly afraid of half the world in the early 2000s. Remember Freedom Fries?

Ahhh, just watched it. I would never have thought that is a reference.
Thanks for clarifying!

+1 for this - would make working with video or any reference tracks so much easier. The Cubase implementation is fantastic imo - being able to split the arrange view into two which is great for organising, say if you get a load of midi that you're orchestrating from but you want to keep it all in one place on the screen as a reference, etc.

I'm a former Cubase user, too. I'd definitely count the horizontal split of the arrange view, Excel style, among the things Steinberg got right.

The devs are currently working on background video stuff. It seems the need for a 'global' track is what is being considered, see here
https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...62&postcount=2
So I would just like to bump this as it would really help those of us working to picture as well, to see the time signature and tempo always available.

Tempo and time signature are definitely the big ones - even if only those could be pinned, it would already save a ton of scrolling up and down in big projects!

Came here to request track pinning so I could stop fucking up my mixes by sloppily moving tracks around just so I can see what I'm doing.
I like the idea of Excel or Nuendo style splitting too. Either would be a huge improvement.
Get on it! :-)

The thing is that pinned track feature is already implemented in the Mixer. The Master track is always pinned and when scrolled, regular tracks go behind it while it remains in view. So i imagine it should not be too difficult to apply the same mechanism in the Arrange.

Definitely related;
But to be clear: users are asking to be able to customize which tracks are pinnable. The fact that the master Track can do this still does not allow for the requested customization...

Not only Master can be moved in mixer. There are also other options.

It's weird when you come to support a cause and then you get clarified as if you didn't.
I'm sure the devs understand perfectly what is being asked here on page 4 so far

Another use case for track sticking would be to have items with items rulers,
this is useful when you want to reset timeline at 0 for some reasons

For me it was trying to time align two tracks which aren't anywhere near each other.

You know, whenever it's been a few days since a pre comes out, the hopeful part of me thinks, "perhaps this time, we'll see some midi editor love, or track pinning, or this or that. They're surely working on it and that's why they've needed a few days to work on this. This is gonna be it! ". Then I stop and think, "hang on, cubase users need to wait a whole year before they get anything new, and then it's a new effect, or chord view stuff or this or that blah blah. I forget to think "um, maybe chill out, maybe the devs just took a frikkin deserved day off".
thanks devs for giving us something every day or two. It's a treat.

FYI: as a work-around for this issue, you can get LKC Content Navigator:
https://www.lkctools.com/content-navigator
A fabulous plugin in its own right, it has a feature where you add the prefix "**" to tracks you want to pin as always visible.

Is it possible to have something like this in reaper or would somebody make this?
Thanks!

Absolutely supporting this! The Master track too. For example, working with video, it's so important to have always available the master track with the tempo automation as well as the video track. This would make everything easier, especially when you are dealing with hundreds of track and everything has to refer to the video. Please add this 💚
