Stumbled on what may be a regression from 6.71 with MIDI items-

In past versions the two items did not link together when they became the same length. Is this intended now?

This is a new bug. Items on the same (non-FIPM, non-fixed-lane) track are incorrectly treated as grouped for edge edits.

We'll fix this for the next release, but it's enough of an edge case (ahem) that hopefully it won't negatively affect many people.

Note that if this track were grouped with another track, the items would correctly be treated as grouped, so it really is an edge case.

Heads up that this release contains the long-awaited track media/razor area grouping. Basically, if you group your tracks with that option, razor selection and simulataneous items will propagate to all the following tracks

And if only these items are enclosed by longer enclosing items.

I'll have to disagree that it's an edge case, it's a function I use constantly when recording MIDI. I could be the only one though. Back to 6.71 for now!

Default Automation: action added to show envelopes window for last touched track or item.

Highlighted in page 13 of the new guide.

That one is really nice.

At times I felt myself getting a little lost.

Not anymore.

Thank you.

Ohhppps...

I thought this was related to FX windows, but it seems it is not.
Still having to digg for the FX windows...

I mean, if I open FX windows for tracks 1, 2 and 3, the last one belonging to 3 covers then ones for 1 and 2.

I thought any will come as the front window as soon as I clicked on track 1 or on 2, but it is not so.

Thanks there is the cascade option...

If you mean it should work for both, I am afraid it does not.

I just hurried to try it just with the FX windows ( I don't even know what the others are since I am new to REAPER) and clicking on a track does not bring its previously open FX window in front of others that are already at front because they were open later.

HUGE update, thanks!

would like to know though if the devs are planning to do something about the "bug?" they introduced into the Mac version a while ago (i think this must have happened at 6.66, maybe 6.65), which made audio item drag and drop from the timeline into all samplers except it's native RS5K stop to work.

on Windows, this has always been fine though

Into the log is missing the gain Reduction Meter support.
The 6.72 has it.

Huge Update. Thanks a lot. I used the .dev versions for a while. Track group editing brings a so much missed feature to reaper. Can't work without it anymore.

My heart skipped a beat because I thought the gain reduction meter was on the TCP/mixer meters themselves (like Studio One / Pro Tools)! Oh well, perhaps someday!

I'll repeat myself from another thread

In REAPER v6.0 - December 3, 2019 embedded TCP/MCP UI was added, so you could put parts of plugins inside control panels.
It's just you couldn't show gain-reduction meter inside TCP/MCP before v6.0.

I am not sure we understand each other.
"Actions: add action to view envelopes for last touched track/item" means there is a new action, which after running will show envelopes (maybe only active) for last touched track or item (probably depends on what was last touched). It is not about FX windows.

People were hoping for the gain reduction to be overlaid/integrated into the actual channel meters, not into the TPC/MCP mini-UIs. Anyway, this is much better than nothing, thanks Justin!

I wanted to bring to the front any open FX window as soon as its track is clicked.

But anyway, I can do it by clicking twice on the Fx button of the track.
The first click will close it and the second click will open it again directly at the front.

Thank you very much.

Into the log is missing the gain Reduction Meter support.
The 6.72 has it.

the GR meter for third-party plug-ins is not in 6.72. The gif you showed there is ReaComp's embedded UI, which is not new in 6.72.

It looks like, the Api-docs don't feature "ReaScript: support GetSetTrackGroupMembership() with MEDIA_EDIT_LEAD and MEDIA_EDIT_FOLLOW", yet.
Haven't seen it in the rcs and chmaha not in the released version of the docs.

Is that how it should be? Only global disabling of a group of tracks and items helps

  • + Grouping: support track media/razor edit groups, including leader/follower groups
  • + Grouping: media item edits on group-leader tracks will affect media items on all group-follower tracks, as if the media items were grouped

As a drummer who relies heavily on grouped tracks, I've waited 10 damn years for this!!!

Now all that's left in my wish list is a native function like PT's playlists, Logic's track alternatives, Cubase's track versions or Digital Performer's takes.
Hopefully it won't take another 10 years.
