Default Moving Google Drive?

How do you move the physical location of google drive on your local computer?
I want to put it on my mechanical, not my SSD

The instructions at Google didn't match this version at all, and the google results weren't very helpful

hey pipeline,

I went through this a while back (but on OS X) using this post on Google Community to make it work. I also signed off before doing it and back in when it was time, just really as a holdover from a previous suggestion that didn't entirely work, and it did take, without recreating the folder again in its original assumed place.

I find pretty good advice on this kind of thing on the Community forum, never from Google, er Alphabet itself

"1. Quit Backup & Sync
2. Copied Google Drive folder from user folder on C: drive to my usb drive
3. Deleted Google Drive in the user folder
4. Reopened Backup & Sync which complained about missing folder and then clicked on 'Locate" and pointed to Google Drive folder which is now located on the usb drive.
5. Had to repeat step 4 for the usb location to be accepted.

It's now working fine and has NOT re-created a Google Drive folder in the user folder on the C: drive "

I would rename rather than delete, just to be safe. Once everything works with the new folder on the other drive, only then would I delete the original, now renamed, folder.
