Obscure piano vstis
Hi All.
Can anyone here let me know about some obscure piano vst instruments? I've got the one Spitfire released as a freebie, and it's awesome... but I'm on the hunt for more variety and obscurity. Here's a great example. The piano in this clip has all kinds of mechanical noise and I'm looking for something like this. And also any variations on something like it. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qob_egm-1s

Thank you, Michal!
The Triple felt combi is wonderful! Exactly the kind of sound I was looking for.
Thanks again!

Bigcat (the person) has made VST instruments and Kontakt instruments (all free).
Google 'bigcat VST', 'bigcat piano' etc etc.
A good start is his (older) blog:
http://bigcatinstruments.blogspot.co...struments.html
The 'Ultimate City Piano- 30 patches' would interest you I think.
His more recent blog thing is:
https://freedigitalinstruments.wordpress.com/
And search for 'bigcat' on KVR and vst4free.
He's all over the place...a great cat.

the Kontakt Una Corda is very good. Death Piano from Production Voices also. Sound Dust have a bunch - Dulcitone1884 is exceptional, plus sShips Piano - these and others might need EQ, but they are full of character Buy them on sale - Black Friday is not far away

Since I got Pianoteq my desire for finding weird upright sample libraries has ceased.
You can make the tuning as wonky as you like, change the sympathetic resonance, mic it how you want and put it in any space you want via impulse response. Add any lo-fi effects with plugins.

Agreed, Pianoteq is incredible, and so much less demanding on your computer than sample libraries.
Personally I think the fad for felt piano and mechanical noises will pass; Nils Frahm in particular has made it extremely popular but now it's getting overused. Far from "obscure," it's now ubiquitous. Still, it's fun to experiment with these different sounds.
