Well I just tried it out and was able to connect to someone, but they didn't have anything hooked up to play, all I heard was keyboard typing and other room noises even though they guy said he did not have a mic hooked up. At first I couldn't hear me, nor could he. I had to redo the audio wizard again and do exactly as it said. This second time it worked. I saw a latency on my end of ~41ms. On his end was ~46ms or 1000ms it jumped back and forth. Eventually I'll find someone who actually was ready to play music.

i tired with 2 jammers being 18 ms on my end and receiving them at 50 ms and they jams were satisfatory
passible as long as there was no strict drmline to keep time

yea well they omitted the recording option for the moment
but usingi t seemed satisfactory
the sound is fine
it just limited to one on one jamming
and instead of thinking maybe if i hear what it sounds like,
just try it for yourself
like ejamming, better jams are made when parteners are closer to eachother geographically , the less the ping the better the realtime.
im in dire search for the best realtime jamming app
because ninjam well
with or without session mode\ does not cut it when you need key changes or wanna do cover songs
nnjam is great and i love it to death but its not co ordinated music
its random jammers hopefully playing in tune with others and the sounds overlap to make a somewhat descent improv track(sometimes)
plusi like the controlled environments of the other apps because ninjams public servers end up with real amateurs or dickheads in which we cant vote out or control who comes and goes
Musigy has worked well with jammers ive tested with this side of the ocean

I tried Musigy tonight with a friend about 20 miles away from me with decent results. The problem was not necessarily with latency with yourself, but with latency with respects to each other. We were constantly trying to speed up or slow down with respects to each other and could not manage a beat. If a metronome was happening that was constant, then I think it would be manageable, but there is no metronome. The sound quality was good, but I would get a slight "delayed" sound from myself (like a had a delay pedal on set on low). My friend got the same thing. Although his sound to my ears sounded fine, and vice versa.

Even with latency, the final "synced" mix to 'our' ears must arrive at precisely the same time to all who are jamming in order to effectively perform live over that moment. Until the internet gets faster, I think the best choice is Ninjam. This is for sound quality and timing. The only work around with Ninjam is the fact you are always playing over what everyone else just got done playing, no matter how long the interval. We've made successful stabs at it with very long intervals. In that situation, I wish Ninjam had more features, like being able to stop the interval and restart it. But with all things considered, it is still the best choice until a faster internet or a genius programmer. ...which I am not.

I pray for a genius programmer or a faster internet, or both.

This is my mantra...

really long intervals on ninjam are unnecesary the bpi i usually always divisible by 4
so as long as the beat or rhythms are consistent a jam will work out
as for your delayed sound in musigy
lower your tolerable delay in the audio settings
in network settings choose short internet for jammers closer to you lower audio bite rate and your problems shoudld be solved

your obviously reletavely new to ninjam and musigy
ninjam has tons of option to use when run through reaper

as for delays in musigy
human respnce between musicians is usually 20 - 50 ms anyways
the slight delay of musigy and ejamming was workable in most jams ive had unless a drum machine was involved
drum machines are bad news for real time jamming because it is too precises with no human error

I'm new to Musigy, but not Ninjam. Me and my brother got very good at playing full choruses or verses using long intervals. Short intervals don't work when the chorus or verse has different parts or fills.

As for Musigy, we tried lowering our tolerable delay and it would correct the delayed sound, but that made our sync worse. We tried every possible combination of settings and still didn't like the experience.

By the way, it really ticks me off when someone assumes I'm "green" or don't know what I'm doing when they base the opinion on blurbs of information on a forum. I put stuff on forums hoping someone will get something from it or for new insights, not to be belittled.

Hi all,
let me say something to musigy.
I think that will never work satisfied.
There will be always a lag of about 50ms.
And thats the dead of music piece.
On NinJam you're on loop behind, but synced
as well. The only limitation is, that you can
only play songs with a continous chord follow
over the whole song. In Musigy you can do
verse / chorus based songs thats true.
But with a lag of 50ms or more. Thats crap in my eyes.

TBH its a bit rude to make a post of another program on NINJAMs forum m8, what was ya thinking?

Plus it sucks tbh, caused BSOD's galor, then when it was working I had to get a version from someone else as the beta on the download site didn't work.
Then it was an older version I was given, thats not reassuring.
After everything it was no where near a beta and it was massively ALPHA just as ejmaming is, Alpha's being called Beta's.

I mean good luck to the guys programming it, its gotta be hard work at times but a beta ya would expect bugs, not for it to be pretty incomplete. TBH they are both still very alpha, but ejamming maybe is almost out the alpha stage.
But then still it doesn't work like ninjam, I'd only be able to play with 1 person because I only have 512kbps upload and also they would have to be pretty near to me.
TBH its easier finding a field, get a cheap marquee and generator and jamming with the cows. :P

And yes they have got rid of MAD COW DISEASE over here.

But look, a satellite will be up soon or it already up now which links all the main satellites together up in space, meaning they don't need to make loads of hops back to earth then the latency will drop loads
Then think of all the software about that is cable of jamming that could be adjusted so easily, hey like NINJAM.
Hang on, isn't it pretty much able to now with low enough pings?
