weird issues i5/i7 vs q6600

I am working with an unreleased 32 bit plugin that is working fine on win 7 64 bit on i5 and i7 pc's

On q6600 pc's it gives an error each time you try to add the plugin or load a project containing it that "disk not present". This happens in reaper on the q6600, but not in Vegas

Another issue that happens only on the q6600 but both in reaper and vegas, is that moveable graphical elements cannot be moved. Wherevermyou put them, they snap back to their original position.

I realize this isn't much to go on, but any ideas where I should look for clues?
