Default Hear my midifiles in Reaper Linux

I would like to know if anyone has found a simple solution to be able to hear midisounds in Reaper linux. Before with Windows it was as easy as adding a VST virtual instrument and getting it to play back the midifile. I have been trying to get my head around it in Ubuntu 18.04 but can't seem to find a way to load soundfont files. I have QSynth installed and also a soundfont file installed (FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3 in usr/share/sounds/sf3) but it doesn't show up in the VSTi section of Reaper FX. I don't want to install Wine or anything like that.
So, to sum up, is there someway I can get Reaper to load the soundfont file for my midifiles or another way to hear them?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You could use CARLA from KXStudio to load soundfont
files. QSynth is an external application which cannot be loaded as a VST inside Reaper.

It can still have some issues with sound files sometimes, but falkTX is working on this afaik.

Well I have jack, carla and reaper installed, so all I have to do is get them to talk to each other. As usual with linux, you have to figure it out but that's half the fun...

Problem solved!! In case anyone needs to know, what I did was:

-install Jack
-install Carla from KX Studio (thanks lilith93)
-point reaper to the carla vst
-open a midifile in Reaper on separate tracks
-add a virtual instrument track with carla as a VST effect
-open send/receive on the carla track and add all receives to it(all my midifile tracks)
