Default LICEcap questions....?

Hi All,

I got LICEcap figured out and working but have a couple questions.

> I assume I have to upload the GIF to a place like Imageshack in order to put them in the Reaper forum, is that right?

> I see R4 can render a GIF video but I haven't found a way of loading a GIF, Reaper don't seem to recognize them, at least the ones I make with LICEcap, is that right?

Any replies are appeciated.

Tod

Yes, but I've read that Imageshack changed their policy regarding animated gif's some time ago and doesn't allow them anymore with a free account.
At least my previously uploaded animated gif's there don't work any longer.
edit:
Here's the link

I use Photobucket now instead for uploading animated gif's which works fine.

see here how you embed them in your forum posts

Regarding your second question, I've never tried importing a gif into Reaper, but have you already tried to drag and drop from Windows explorer to Reaper's arrangement ? Not sure if it works though.
edit:
you can make your captures in licecap recording to .lcf which Reaper can import.

Thanks nofish, I didn't know that about Imageshack. From what it looks like StashBox might be able to handle it too.

Aah, so the lcf will work. I'll give that a try.

I did try to drag it and instert it but it wouldn't work.

Thanks again.

Okay, I made an lcf file and it loaded into Reaper alright but it was all skewed out of shape. The video was running diagnally instead of vertically.

I tried both Inserting from the menu as well as dragging in and got the same results. Any ideas?

Anybody got any ideas why the lcf files are skewed and running diagonally in the Reaper video window.

AVIs seem to be just fine.

I know that from old TV sets... you gotta smash your fist on top of your monitor. I just did that and now the screenshot looks quite straight. Though everything else looks a bit skewed now so I might have to do it agai

Heh heh, yeh I used to repair them back in those days, well the 60s.

So were you able to make it work?

Thanks Ollie.

Hey a "TV guy"...cool.

Here's how it looks on my XP netbook (LICEcapped LICEcap GIF(900k))

Alas I'm completely clueless with these video things, "tilted image" makes me think of "sync" for possibly all the wrong reasons and without any imagination where and why a "sync" issue would occur in a screen capture except in relation with the GFX driver, where the only thing I would try to play with then is the screen refresh rate in your GFX driver menu, which may be completely pointless if not impossible if you're using a flatscreen monitor.

Odd issue (pun unintended but welcome ).

Thanks Ollie, I don't have any problems with the GIF files other than they won't load in Reaper, and I can post them in the forums without any problems.

However the the LCF files do load in Reaper, just skewed out of shape.

My goal was to load the LCF file into reaper so I could add sound to it. I'd like to make some tutorials for some friends and LICEcap works great for that but I also need sound to fully explain it.

And yes I have a flatscreen monitor.

Icidently, I see my post got moved. That's OK but it's in an area I didn't even know existed. I don't see this area on my normal forum page. Is it a setting or something?

What version of licecap are you using? There was a bug that caused LCFs to be encoded incorrectly in 1.0, I think the next version fixed it...

Hey Tod!

I was going to use Active Presenter (which allows you to record your screen) then
export to a gif or something.

Would that work to put into a Reaper forum thread? Do I have to upload it first then put the link into the thread for all to see?

If not, I could use LICEcap as well!

Thanks bro!

Could LiceCap be made to output to MP4 directly?

Don't know, but Active Presenter can and it's free with unlimited time to record.
