Default Folders silence my drum machine

Hi, it’s my first post here. Please be gentle.

Ok so I have most of what I want working. I am able to program drums etc. Record guitar. Add effects.

One thing is when I make my EZdrummer track a folder then I scroll down to the last drum and make that the folder end. This silences the drums. I can’t figure it out.

Can anyone help please?

Welcome to the forums!

We're gonna need a bit more info in order to help as we don't know what your specific routing arrangement is.

Are you playing a MIDI drum file with EZD or have you bounced that to audio files?

Maybe a screen shot of your track layout or, if we're talking MIDI drums (as opposed to rendered audio files) then maybe attach a project file with just your drum layout and the associated MIDI track.

Welcome to the forum chaosfoz666.

Yeah, you can't use folders in this way, if you really want to use a folder, add a track above the EZdrummer track and make that the folder track.

Actually you may not want to use a folder at all.

Thank you for your replies. I will try the folder above method. I was just trying to group the drums so they don't take up as much space. I have been using without folder and everything works fine. Thanks again

Don't worry; a lot of people try the same as you did first - making the VSTi track into a folder for the output (audio) tracks.

For information:
That approach creates a potential feedback loop in the routing. EZDrummer outputs the audio for each drum and that is sent to the individual tracks, Those tracks are in the folder so their output is routed back to the folder track (where EZDrummer is). That combined audio is then routed to the first output track, then back to the folder, then to the first output track and so on.

Reaper detects such a potential loop and disables the audio, to prevent damage to your audio interface, monitors or ears.

You're welcome. When you get it, you'll really get it.
