Bob,
Of course, and you can then also choose to use high DPI themes with that extra resolution.

At least this is large enough to make sense of such high resolutions. Smaller high DPI screens make little sense today as users are annoyed by their non scaling tiny plugin GUIs.

I suggest you compare the dpi of your existing screen against this new one's resolution and size to consider if non scaling plugins will be big enough for you.
Here's a calc or two for that:

OK thanks for that.
I think I'll ask her to download reaper and see how it looks first hand.
My eyes need a larger screen these days

The DPI calculators will give you some idea what to expect. What resolution and size do you use now?

Bob,
Each pixel will be smaller (higher dpi). Text and graphics will normally appear smaller without 4k Daw themes or using Windows scaling for browsing. However with resolution to spare you can use Windows scaling to say 125% for browsing and still have more resolution than you are used to. That won't solve the slightly smaller VST GUIs or other DAW issues though.
Best check your wife's screen with older plugins that don't scale and see how you get on with that. Try with and without high dpi themes.

You need the GPU to be able to work with that high resolution. If you use the CPU onboard GPU check spec's on that or consider a new graphics card upgrade.

How well it works with Reaper aside, that's a really nice monitor.
