You're probably going to have to see for yourself as I doubt many people here have made the upgrade yet. You'll also find that many people who do this kind of work will not upgrade once they get their system optimized and running smoothly because they don't want the potential of a new os upgrade to mess things up (like in the middle of a job )
At any rate, I'm sure everyone here would be interested in hearing how mavericks and reaper play together. Let us know how it goes.

I've been testing and so far so good.. There's some minor graphical bugs, like the Reaper icon on the dock while rendering looks weird, but everything seems stable.

I came to ask too, was hoping for an announcement from Cockos about it.

Good to know. I'm still on 10.7, but the improved multi-monitor support and tabs in Finder are appealing, particularly since it's a free upgrade now.

I'm also watching, but my old IT training keeps me from putting ANY os upgrade on a production machine for at least a few months until it's proven not to be a problem....

Also quite interested - my company is leaning quite heavily on me to finally upgrade (I'm still on Lion).

True that. I can't stand it when people who don't need their system updates to be 90% compatible with an important piece of software act like I'm being wet blanket when I say I'll never jump on a system upgrade until the word is that all of the major paid software I use will be fine.
For free it's so tempting (free even from Lion!), but I'm standing firm and watching this thread : )

It's funny there's so many people still on Lion. I did stay, because I thought Mountain Lion is to small upgrade to pay 20$ for it. And actually after waiting all this time I'm happy to see that Mavericks is for free! That's very good news. 5 points for Apple.
I don't know if I'll make it and wait so long for others opinions... I might become a beta tester! Just will do the backup and let's try it. I wanted to reinstall some of my programs anyway...

AVID has officially said no for ProTools, but with them that usually just means they haven't given it a yes yet. Seeing posts from people on it with their DAWs who say it so far works. I'm guessing that anything that wasn't good with 10.9 is probably not happening but if it was it will work.

I always like to jump in as early as possible with new Mac OS because usually they bring cool new features and almost always comes with a performance boost.
But I always install fresh on a new partition first to test everything and only I'm sure everything is working perfectly I make the final switch.
So far Mavericks has been a great update, performance is indeed better and haven't got a single compatibility issue so far.

Sorta off-topic, sorta not - if anyone does upgrade their MacBook, I'd be interested to learn whether their battery life is affected one way or another.

When my OS is stable, doesn't give me any problems and everything I need to use runs, I don't change it.
Same reason my laptops are still running XP....

I generally always use the system my major apps require. Not the other way around (updating a system and then needing to update apps that I wasn't interested in updating yet).
My two MBPs are on 10.7.5 and 10.6.8. I'd like to get the new Aperture update but it needs 10.9/Mavericks, and the DAWs and other stuff on both of them are not ready, so I'd rather have everything working than the latest update of anything and run into problems with something else that's important.
Unless that update is amazing, which this Aperture update thankfully isn't. I never went ML. Might be great but it doesn't make the apps I use any better.

That is a good point for most updates but Mavericks brings some under the hood improvements that should make your Mac perform better. That's a reason worth updating for, IMO.
But I do totally understand your point, I always try to move early because I have few plugins and few software, if I owned a recording studio or a lot of plugins it would be a whole different story.

Assuming you have the system resources for it, you'd get a major performance boost out of moving from XP to Win 7 and a bigger one if you went to (gasp!) 8.1.

Get the latest Reaper 64 bit download. Here's why and a few tips if you already installed it. I personally went BACK to 10.68 Snow Leopard because of my Reaper issues. I found Reaper runs flawlessly (in Snow) and even the 64 bit version runs all my bridged plugins good as well. However I am still thinking of installing LION because of some of the other benefits. However this being my main music production machine, I think I will wait until Cockos gives Mavericks their blessing on it first. If you're just playing around however it's worth a try especially since it's FREE. I am running now 10.6.8 in 32 bit kernel and life is good again! I was having issues with Mavericks when using MIDI plugins and Reaper was crashing. Now I have good backups and am very careful with what I install. REMEMBER BETA means PRE-RELEASE! Experimental, getting the BUGS - OUT! ETC. From the what's new of Reaper 64 ver 4.57 this is what's changed...
MIDI editor:
added mouse modifier to stretch MIDI source loop
less sensitive mouse behavior for editing ruler loop points .
new loop point editing behavior when start offset exists .
quantize window has improved labels for quantize range
MIDI inline editor:
added action to close editors for selected items for main context
auto-zoom contents when opening if edits have occurred in main editor
doubleclick on toolbar zoom button zooms-to-contents
fixed flicker when using humanize window
if closing editor via inline editor action, obey selection rules
AU:
bridged support for plug-ins with multiple buses
fixed bridged plug-in issues (broken in 4.56)
improved bridged plug-in shutdown sequence to avoid autorelease errors
FX:
fixed rare zero column size bug in FX browser
floating FX windows show slot number of title
restore floating state when bringing FX back online
MIDI:
fixed peak issue with overlapping channel data .
improved arrange view note display (scales to fit used notes)
OSC:
added /vkb_midi/[note|cc|pitch|program|polyaftertouch|channelpressu re] commands for sending MIDI to the VKB record input
added default mappings for /track/@/[mute|solo|recarm]/toggle, /action/@/cc, /action/@/cc/relative, and /action/@/cc/soft (for soft-takeover)
improved support for soft-takeover on action and FX parameter bindings
OSX:
fixed some small leaks
on 10.9+, disable App Nap when using bridged plug-ins, rendering, or audio device open
Video:
fix startup crash with old VLC versions installed
improved QT audio support
Windows:
improved CPU/memory meter reliability
improved pin-to-top button behavior
Grouping: fixed possible group errors when using multiple project tabs
JS: fixed reset to default for sequencer_baby_v2
Localization: fixed potential crash on startup
Memory: tweaks to memory management logic

Update?
This thread was last updated in 2013, but it's still google's first result for "Reaper Mavericks".
Has there been any update? From my searching on the forums, it looks like OSX 10.7 AND 10.8 Both work better than 10.9 (Mavericks).
Can anyone confirm?
Edit: Actually, according to this thread - mavericks seems to be running reaper without issue:
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=134032
Anecdotally, I have heard that Apple broke USB, and some audio interfaces have issues.

Eh. Reaper on Mavericks works alright for me, or as well as it ever did on Mountain Lion... as far as I can remember.

Reaper is working flawlessly on my Mavericks set up. Some third party plugins were having some issues with updating the GUI properly but that has since been fixed.

All good here. Using it with a Steinberg UR28M with no issues. Latest Steinberg driver update is doing the job.
Recent convert to Reaper. Very happy so far.
