Default [5.79 onwards] 32-bit AU plugins not working on OSX 64-bit

Hi there,

I still use some 32 bit plugins since upgrading to 64-bit Reaper, and noticed recently that my 32-bit AUs stopped working - as in they don't parse audio at all. So if I put a 32-bit AU plugin on a track, the audio output of the track stops, until I bypass that plugin in the FX chain panel, and it resumes again. Also the GUI of some plugins aren't responding to any audio input (eg. freq analysers).

I tried every version of Reaper in the last 6 months and tracked down that the issue appeared in 5.79 - where one of the changes listed was "Audio Units: improve support for AU that use multiple buses but do not support channel-configuration (e.g. Addictive Drums AUi)"... perhaps this had something to do with it?

Guessing this is not a problem that will affect many people but it would be nice to still be able to use some of my old plugins when the need arises... reluctant to upgrade until I have to!

Thanks

Hi, did you get any resolution on this issue? Just noticed the same problem trying to get some free 32 bit amps (Softube) to work.

You can override this by setting:

au_scan32=1

in reaper.ini under the [REAPER] section (and restarting REAPER)

Adding au_scan32=1 to the reaper.ini under the [REAPER] section didn't make any difference for me. Reaper6x64 on MacOS 10.11.6 doesn't see any of 32bit Audio Units. File reaper-auplugins.ini doesn't get created.

[EDIT] Deleting reaper-auplugins64.ini resolved it.
