(details of your linux version, computer setup,
and overall experience in win/mac areas will help)

Line6 hardware may be an issue, run these commands
in a terminal to see if your device shows up
in the listings:

aplay -l

arecord -l

Some audio system setup help:

https://libremusicproduction.com/art...g-started-jack

I have a pair of Fender usb guitar amps to input
elecktric guitar, no issues. A separate output device
is often needed for guitar i/o I have an maudio pci card
for that, and motherboard soundchips mainly just work.

For windows plugins in linux reaper, there is a wrapper,
LinVst, that has good documentation:

https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst

and a page to get it:

https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst/releases

Then there are a lot of experiences documented
in the forum topics here.

An example simple install:
make a folder named after your reaper version, like
.611 if you have the latest. Copy your reaper archive there,
and unarchive it. Open a second instance of .611 folder
in a second file manager.

In one manager window, browse the the actual contents,
and move them to .611 in the second window, and remove
everything except the contents.

now, in a terminal, launch qjackctl (based on the first link above)

in a second terminal, to start jackmidid, run command

a2jmidid -j default

In a third terminal, start linux-reaper with

.611/reaper

(terminal output will help solve issues, and closing
a terminal makes it easy
to kill things that quit responding)

The configuration file for reaper is in

/home/you/.config/REAPER

where you can edit settings, vst paths etc.

Don't hurry, take your time, and enjoy each progress!
