Default How to make song clips volume levels the same

I'm helping my friend who coaches kids baseball.
I want to make 20 second long song clips that will be played as the kids walk up to the plate to bat.
I want to make the clips all of reasonably equal volume.
I have searched. Googled. And experimented.
I am looking for the fastest easiest good way to do this. The kids are 5 years old. It does not have to be super high quality.
Is this the best way:
Put all clips on 1 track. Separated by a couple seconds.
Select all items.
Now click actions >item properties> normalize items
Is this a good way?

Regular normalize might work well enough, but kind of only on accident. It will make all the clips' loudest peaks equal, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with perceived loudness. That would be more about average level over time. If you've got SWS, there are actions for loudness normalization that will probably work better.

thank you so much for replying.
I googled some more.
and read that most songs were probably already normalized to 0 dB.
so, I rendered and did not do any more processing at all.
thank you again for your reply ashcat lt.
I appreciate it very much.

There's,a media preference Cntl-P to put a little volume knob above each item so you can tweak to taste.

Seriously - just use your ears. Listen to each clip then decide which is the quietist. Now lower the volume of the others to match it. Match it by ear and not with numbers - you will get a better result. Imo it's good practice to develop this approach to loudness rather than rely on meters.
