Default Adding echo to just one section of a track-What would you sugges?

SONG: Wind Beneath My Wings
ARTIST: Bette Midler

Since I am unsure of all the proper terminology to use, I will do the best I can to ask what I want to know:

I have recorded the entire song and am happy with my vocal track. However, I am just wanting to have a little fun with it and am interested in finding out how to approach this to reach my goal.

In the song, at one point is the phrase, "Fly, fly, fly away, you let me fly so high"!

I have 'Reverb A' on the entire track so that the vocal is not so dry.

However, on just the first 2 of 3 words 'Fly', I want to apply a subtle echo or maybe a slap-back effect (Reverb B) to add something interesting to it, but, I want to know how I should approach this so not to interfere with the remainder of the phrase.

This is my first time trying to do an effect like this.

I know that I don't want the echo effect to abruptly end just before the remainder of the phrase. But, I also do not want the tail end of the echo to go too far and be 'on top' of the rest of the phrase either.

I realize that there might be multiple ways to do this. Any ideas of what direction I might try here?
I am hopeful that doing this is not too complicated!

Thanks so much in advance for your reply!

envelopes.

you can control any parameter on any FX on any track by checking a box, then drawing a line.

What you are looking for is easily done.

As a quick peek to give you an idea look at your track controls and click the little "trim" button the one with the Three little points that make the little pointy peak. Right next to FX button.

If you have any FX on the track you are looking at you will see a bunch of check boxes. Each one will add an envelope that you can tweak to your hearts content.

better yet for some real instruction that will "learn ya" quickly, watch the Kenny Vid on the subject

remember to tell everyone how it goes!

Peace!

also, you could split the vocal either side of the word and apply 'Item'fx to just that word. It would mean you would have both reverbs on that item though.

If it's an effect that has a tail (reverb, delay) then just use a send. Create a new track, add the effect to it at 100% wet, create a send to it on your audio track and automate the send level so nothing is sent most of the time but only when you want it to.

Related question:

Let’s say you wanted the tail of a reverb or the repeats of a delay to overlap with the next word, but you don’t want any reverb/delay applied to that next word. In other words, you want the FX to be turned off for the following word while still ringing out from the previous word.

Is this possible and if so how is it done?
