Default where do i post my Reaper praise?!

<3 this program..

just bought a license today...have been using the demo for just over a month..and i love it so much. I was having such a hard time with daws before. I had been using cakewalk 9 since it came out and needed to upgrade but i hated EVERYTHING up until reaper came out. I love the speed and ease of everything. The community is amazing. I'm evening teaching myself javascript so I can working on developing some js plugin stuff aswell.

SO GOOD

Welcome to Reaper!

You can post praise where you want. For example here.

JS stands for "JesuSonic", so you better learn that.

Welcome aboard.

I'd say that the leap from Pro Audio 9 to REAPER is quite a mighty one ...

i tried everything inbetween...it was all crap.the worst part is how homogenized the DAWs have become now. Unified in their cumbersome workflows and bloatedness.

I think you've got a point. There was actually something about the simplicity of the design of Cakewalk Pro Audio 8 and 9 (my initiation into the world of DAWs by the way) which is sort of there in REAPER in a funny sort of way, but which seems to have been lost in Sonar over the years.

I think the term your searching for is "craftsmanship".

thanks for the correction and that's what i intend to do..and python/perl.

i'm so inspired to contribute to this reaper using community.

i'm going to start by making sysex editors for all my midi synths and/or samplers and sharing them. the guy who did the PG-300 thing is wicked...and i'm just gonna reverse engineer that.

See, that's another thing that's great... REAPER seems to be drawing to itself all the brainy guys and gals! Good stuff.

Craft is generally a casualty of marketing.

I can't begin to describe how much I think marketing destroys craftsmanship. You either do something because you love doing it, or you are doing it for the money. Cockos Inc. makes that pretty clear on the "About Cockos" page where they say this:

"The goal of Cockos is to develop software sustainably while preventing profit rationale from forcing engineering compromises. By doing so, we can keep our product visions intact, giving maximum benefit to our users. "

That's the shit! That's who I want coding my DAW software!!!

Justin is a cult-hero and adds another pouch to his bat-belt with Reaper.
And the whole licensing method/development attitude beholdens the user rather than having them cursing under their breath at where the damn dongle/install CD is. And the giving, knowledge, thriving on-line community alone is worth the price of admission.

10+ stars!

Hi 0=0 and welcome to the Reaper forums!

I agree on that totally and somehow looking at it this way it's a bit funny when reading posts in these forums going like "Why the hell isn't this like in ProTools?" or "Why the f*ck isn't this like in Sonar?".

Agreed, the cult hero thing is true and great. If you used a computer when Winamp started, then you already loved Justin! If you have ever used any daw software before, then you automatically will love Reaper!

Now that Reaper has been around a while, people scoff at the simplicity of the audio/midi events as well as fx in one track. I came from several other daws and was amazed when I first inserted a vsti as easy as inserting a vst. It took them a little long to give us folder in folder and automation tracks, and it is quite solid in many areas now.

hi data!

if those people knew the joy i have now...it's shocking how happy i am because of this program..it's given me a new lease on my musical life. my workflow is so much faster..i have so many wicked ideas that i just couldn't finish before because of the "longness" and now i can.

i might have to buy the fancy license because i'm gunning to make over $20,000 this year from music just from this software. (i'm such an optimist)
