+ Razor edit: support auto-crossfade
Thank You!!! Though unfortunately this does not seem to be working as it should. If drag an item so that it edge overlap another item using a razor edit I can see the cross-fade being created while I'm dragging, but as soon as I release the mouse, the crossfade gets wiped out and I'm left with a fade on only one of the items instead of a crossfade.

Can Razor edits also follow the preference for trim behind items while editing? I believe that would help solve this.

... ehh, sorry, now I remember why we haven't implemented this. I'm going to revert this change for now and think about it some more.

I can see the conundrum, but honestly, the behavior you're showing doesn't bother me. It makes sense that once you release the mouse anything contained within the razor edit box would now be part of the selection.

And sorry to beat a dead horse, but again I really think having razor edits follow the option for trim behind would help things. That's the last piece that's missing for me to make razor edits a really great editing tool. The feature you just added to have overlapping media in lanes work with razor edits is also fairly uses without being able to turn off trim behind, as the overlaps get wiped out as soon as the mouse is released when dragging a razor edit, so the lanes disappear.

Yes, it looks like a problem in testing, but maybe it won't be a problem in real workflow? Usually, if I move the selection, connecting with other items to get a crossfade, I don't need to make a second move. Although, after the first move, the area may confuse other users...
This is a really interesting challenge that will make Razor Edit a flawless tool.

MIDI file import via drag and drop broke with 6.17 (I think)

Dragging a MIDI file from Cubase to Reaper 6.16: (working okay)

Dragging a MIDI file from Cubase to Reaper 6.18: (file truncated)

I'm pasting into the same project loaded in 6.16 and 6.18.

I find this behaviour odd in plain old selected item moving
In my mind a10ms auto created fade would be practical most of the time.

if the RE was targeting unfaded item sections (ignoring faded sections unless part of an unfaded piece under the RE) would this be a way around collecting chaff at the edges?

It's main purpose is to allow time for time based effects like delays and reverbs (tails) to build up properly before actually rendering the audio.

Without it, loops with time based effects won't loops properly as the start of the them will be dry as the reverb/delays etc haven't had time to build up.

Another use for it (that I'm hoping for.. nudge nudge wink wink devs)

Is to enable us to use effects on loops that would normally add phase shift. Basically anything with a "minimal phase" element to it like EQ.

At the moment, if you EQ a loop, it won't render out without clicks at the start/end.

I'm hoping for an option to get around this

Sure!

Here you go:
https://nextcloud.stephanroemer.net/...bsZG2mdnft2xxt

Steps:

1. load the "test-project.rpp" in REAPER
2. drag the "Ilya Efimov Nylon Guitar.mid" into the project

In 6.16 this will work fine. In 6.18 the MIDI file will be truncated.

My suspicion is that 6.18 somehow doesn't handle the tempo change in the project.
But that's just a wild guess.

Fixing, thanks for posting the file. The MIDI itself is not truncated on import, it's just that the enclosing media item length is set too short. If you drag the right edge of the media item out, the MIDI is all there.

I am not the biggest fan of the new Scrollbar in the Media Explorer. Takes up quite some space and is probably more often using up space then being in use (I can only speak for myself of course)... but I can get used to it of course, only wanted to give my feedback. :-)

But one thing I would really love to do, is to change the colour of the Scrollbar. I couldn´t find it in the Themetweaker, so I thought I ask here.

Thanks in advance. :-)

What might be nice for the sample scroll bar is the same kind of collapsible bar found in the new tcp fx and send list, placed along the bottom of the sample preview. Wouldn't take up precious UI space but is there when you need it, like a good neighbour

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, but would it be possible to have an option in the mouse modifiers that would enable creating a razor edit area and selecting the items in that area at the same time?

Like marquee select, but then razor select, I guess.
