Default Artist Mix/MC Mix - how to use with Mackie Control (Mac)?

heylo!

i recently acquired an Euphonix MC Mix. it works pretty well.

having read some past threads on this forum about getting an Artist Mix/MC Mix working in Reaper (64bit - v5.941), i am a bit stumped.

i've installed the latest EuControl software via the Avid website (unified 18.3 / EuControl 3.7).

the interface works fine in Pro Tools. i have it connected to my MacBook Pro via an Ethernet to USB adapter.

using the EuCon preferences panel in MacOS settings (High Sierra 10.13.6), i dragged the Reaper app into the EuCon settings panel and selected 'MackieControl' with MIDI ports 1-4... and then selected 'Start'. the Network Interface is properly set to my USB Ethernet adaptor.

in Reaper, i go to Preferences > Control Surfaces and then click Add. i add Mackie Control Universal.

but when i go to Edit the newly added MCU and open MIDI input, the MC Mix is not listed. i have a Softube Console 1 that is listed, but nothing else.

what am i missing?

ahhhh... well, i figured it out!

don't turn your Artist Mix/MC Mix on until EuControl has already loaded.

i'm not certain if these are perfect settings, but for others who may be interested.

Reaper > Preferences > Control Surface > Add > Mackie Control > Edit > MIDI Input/Output > select first Euphonix MIDI channel

then Reaper > Preferences > Control Surface > Add > Mackie Control EXTENDED > Edit > MIDI Input/Output > select other 3 Euphonix MIDI channels

If you're interested in trying native mode...

https://stash.reaper.fm/v/18477/EuCon%20Beta.zip

and map editor:

It's quite a bit better than a beta, lots of features, a lot of folks use it daily, we just stopped development at the beta stage, that's all.

Solved my problem!
I run an Avid Artist Mix under Windows 10 and the Eucon software is located in the ancient system settings. I set it up to communicate to Reaper in Mackie mode.
I can confirm, that the order to start everything seems to be:
1. Start Eucontrol
2. Power on Artist Mix
3. When Device shows op in Eucontrol:
2. Start Reaper
