Here's what smaller lollipops might look like.

Sounds like a preferences option Because those are way too small for me to comfortably grab with the mouse especially on a trackpad. I liked them most in ED's screenshot all clustered together like that.

Yeah it's not really looking very nice as it is now, honestly. Gets very tiring very quickly...

Also, it's not impossible to have some leeway around the lollipop even if it's smaller, to click the empty space around it in order to select it...

These dots can be squares and it could be easier on eyes.

I guess I totally miss the point, I thought with envelopes it would be like the audio envelopes we have.

Not so, lolipops, single events, what's the difference? You still got to do all the work of drawing the events.

I'm not complaining, I can deal with lolipops just as easily as the current single events.

Maybe I'm missing something, with my old brain it's entirely possible.

Maybe the space beneath the selected events should also be highlighted, and/or there could be some kind of lines marking the edges of the selection range/s. As it is now, I completely agree that is really hard to visualize event selections in the lanes. Bars are really easy to see when selected...

I also confirm, as EvilDragon said, that I'm not being able to edit velocities at all with this dev release.

Going back a few days to v5.975:

Should AIs have a "P_EXT" prefix, or only "P_POOL_EXT"?

The API documentation only lists "P_POOL_EXT", and this state string does not seem to be copied along with its AI when the pool ID changes. Unfortunately, this is not useful (and not much different than storing an ExtState with the pool number as index): the purpose of the state string should be to store information that is persistent, no matter how the AI is edited.

Hmm yeah duplicating the the AI should probably duplicate the extension state too, fixing.

We are moving in that direction, but from the first round of prereleases that included interpolated envelopes, it was clear that there are many display issues and behaviors that need to be worked out. So changing the display and some of the behaviors to support square envelopes is the first step.

Aah, thanks schwa, that's good to know, I'll admit I was a little bewildered. I spend a lot of time in the midi editor and I'm looking forward to this, it could be a real time and mouse/finger saver.
