Default Is Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio better than Reaper?

I was wondering if anyone here has used the new Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio.

At the moment I'm using both Reaper and Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio.

My feeling is that Mixcraft is now easier to use while its features are as good as Reaper.

What do you think? Does Reaper need to step up their game in the next version?

Does Mixcraft have varispeed and tempo mapping (fit improvisation)?

I keep seeing trolling like this here periodically. I'm willing to bet the OP will never post here again.

Er - this particular "Troll" appears to have been here quite a while..... 86 posts?

To the OP: I used Mixcraft very briefly and decided it was all a bit too frooty loops-y for me.
I suppose it depends on how much you are into actual live audio recording and how much samplers and loops, etc.

I can sort of see using both together, but from what I see looking at the spec of the current Mixcraft, it doesnt appear to be able to do a LOT of what reaper can - and vice versa, of course.

Hi all, I do not claim to master both Reaper and Mixcraft. That is why I put the question to listen to other people’s opinion.

Great point. And my apology to fantasyn.

Mixbus is a very capable DAW and is one of few that run really well under linux. Harrison, the company it is from, is a electronics hardware company with a long history of excellent professional products.

But beyond that, I admit I don't know a lot about Mixbus itself.

OP is talking about Mixcraft - completely different DAW.

I tried it at version 7 - couldn't get past the endless crashes and various cpu problems. I found it to be perhaps the most basic/simplified DAW out of everything I've ever used.

Thank you. As I said, I'm not actually a master of either DAWs so I'm interested in learning from other people's thought.

Regards,

OP: I have a feelin gthat like the rest of us, the more experienced you get with actually using DAW software the more you will begin to find the limitations of mixcraft.

I had a quick look and couldnty see a way to D/L the pro studio version, burt since the non-pro version looked pretty much as I remembered it but without all the addon instruments, I decided not to bother.

My own experience was that I kept finding myself pushed in certain directions by the software rather than being left to do things "my way".

Also the project I slung together initially using just the included loops sounded like what it was. A bunch of fairly generic but decent-sounding loops slapped toegether. I usually record a melody first then fit the backing to it. Hard to do using pre-constructed stuff.

I still would like to hear from you as to the merits of the VB3 included in
Mixcraft fantasyvn. Have you played around with this instrument?

Funnily enough that was about the only thing besides drums that I actually thought was pretty good, but then I have NI's elderly but excellent B4II for all that organisation & it is even better.
As it is Guido's full VB3, which I also have, I can't be too mean about it though, as it IS my "second best" B3-alike.

I am having to chuck my Guido VB3 Ivansec.
It just will not do 96Khz.
This is the only plugin that for me that is buggy.
I do know he recommends not to use it under 96Khz however in
this day and age it should be revamped to do so, I love the sound.
Maybe I should look at NI'S b411.

B4 has been discontinued for so long ti doesnt even do 64bit bridged 100%. The actual plug works fine but it does some rather odd stuff involving the splash screen and saying whether or not it is authorised, so be careful.

Wow. Just D/Ld the demo.

Alright default reaper is no oil painting but Mixcraft is just butt ugly.

Mind you it IS fairly easy to set up and navigate around. Cant see it replacing or even complementing Reaper at this stage, although with Sonar getting canned, I will be looking to use something else as a second DAW.

Even with Logic on my Mac!

I started out home recording on Mixcraft 5 and have kept it upgraded to the current 8 Pro.
Although I mainly use Reaper - just because I've got to grips with the basics and like the work flow - Mixcraft is definitely has an easier learning curve. It has tons of instruments, effects and a very comprehensive sound library most of which can be used in Reaper. I prefer the mixer layout in Mixcraft as it's more 'channel strip' and you have instant adjustment with the low, mid and hi control knobs.
Their forum and tuition videos are just as good as Reapers.

The longer I use Reaper, the more I appreciate that it focuses on just the DAW functionality and a set of good bread-and-butter plugins without bundling tons of instruments and extra effects in. The functionality and flexibility are just so good. . . there's always a relatively simple way for me to do what I want to do.

Also Reaper is one of the few DAWs which has never crashed for me.

If it's better for you, then it's better!

Preferences are personal; everyone should use what feels right for them/the project...I'm glad I found the platform, and equally importantly, the community, for my needs. If it's not working for you then it's best to move on. Good luck either way!
