Reaper crashes when I create a new project, add two items to crossfade, then open and dock the crossfade editor and try to move the item in crossfade editor.

Can't reproduce. Can you share the project and your reaper.ini file?

I can yes but testing it more it seems that this happens if the items in arrange overlap and there's no crossfade, then moving the item in crossfade editor crashes Reaper, if there's a crossfade already it doesn't crash it if that helps.

Ok here's the link. There are just two items, at this point that is saved, dragging the bottom item in crossfade editor crashes Reaper here.

I think it would be nice if the crossfade editor worked with fixed lanes mask mode too, it could help since the fade is not visible in one of the crossfaded items, and if possible to tweak it from the editor.

Great with item/theme colors.

I think the 'combined' label drowns a bit under loudness graph / combined drawing.

In the arrangement both items are fully highlighted with the crossfade fade-in/out theme colors, not sure if this is intentional. And these colors remain after the editor is closed until I click away from the items.

Also here on macOS10.14 there's a drawing bug:

Default update colors

Hello,
Thank you very much for the colour match between arrange window and crossfade editor.
However, the colours don't seem to be updated for the bottom lane when you navigate using the arrows in crossfade editor.
The same applies in the arrange window, unless you deselect the item before selecting the next one.
No matter what options you choose in preferences.
mac os sonoma 14.7 and v7.27+dev1105a

Coloring the items is nice for letting us see which are the two items that crossfade. Thank you!

But.. for a good crossfade, many times, we need to be able to see the spectral peaks (to avoid double transients etc). If we are in spectral peaks view then:

I still can't tell which crossfade I am editing.

Either we need another system for showing which are the two items in question or we need the same item coloring for the 2 crossfading items to be applied in spectral peaks like it is done in normal peak view. Also, perhaps it is a good idea to either always show spectral peaks in the Crossfade Editor, or decouple the spectral peak view between the Editor and the Arrange

Closing the editor doesn't update the Arrange view, so the items stay colored until a call for updating happens by other means.

BTW, here's a prime example when using short xfades of why more zoom-out ability is critical in the editor. It's extremely hard to find any defining waveforms to help with alignment:

Compare that with the required zoom-out levels that actually show useful features:

Bug with time selection in crossfade editor. When playback from the editor and then move the item in arrange so there's no crossfade, TS does not restore the previous position.

I think it should keep the position of the editor playback even when moving items in arrange.

Sorry people, I'm missing something obvious: how do I get the colors in the crossfade editor? I still have the grey background...

It seems there's a bug with item color, if the items crossfade and you change color to an item it doesn't update color in the editor, have to move the item in arrange so there's no crossfade and then move it again to create a crossfade, Then the item colors update in the editor too, could this be the issue?

Also peak zoom and spectrogram are not supported in crossfade editor?

I see the peaks colored with the item color, but the item background is still grey. Maybe it’s always the default color of the theme tweaker?

There is a setting in prefs/appearance/fades to color the entire item or just the crossfaded area.

The editor has its own peak zoom, ctrl+mousehwheel or use the vertical scrollbar (as in the media explorer).

Agreed the horizontal zooming behavior needs some improvements.

Ah yes, thx.
In that view (crossfaded area only), the drawing bug does not appear here on mac.

- btw, it would be nice to be able to use [ESC] to exit the editor.
