I don't think sucking is on the list of choices- I just missed it. I swear this is a compliment but one of those changes reminds me of Motley Crue. Always like your changes/sections, still kicking the vocals too - which I'd probably make a tiny bit louder/ in your face.

Yes, I know it's stylistic and probably within the style but thought I'd mention simply because good vocals always seem to draw people in.

Cool tune! Have to agree with the vocals coming up bit. I'd also like to hear the cymbals just a tad more and they also seem to be a bit outside the stereo field of a drum set.

Twin guitars sound great!

Thanks Karbo! Appreciate it. I would not doubt for a second there's a little Crue in there. I'm a big fan. I'm sure I've "lifted" lots of great licks over the years! I just started learning guitar when their first album came out. Loved Mick Mars tone and aggressive playing. Thanks for the note on vocals. Appears to be a consensus. Duly noted! Thanks again!

If anything. I'd say maybe bring the vocals up a bit. They're there, but I think they can just come up a tad.
Thanks! New to the forum, eh? Welcome! Believe it or not, I've heard the Alice Cooper comparison before. I think here on Reaper! Not somebody I'd mention as a big influence, but definitely enjoy his work. Thanks for your comments!

Thanks Jeff. I'm never quite sure how loud the cymbals should be. I've been listening to a lot of Pro recordings lately with this topic in mind, and they are definitely buried on many. Not all, but most. So - I've tamed mine a lot recently. As for as them sounding outside the stereo field, not sure what you're hearing there. There's no artificial stereo wideners being used, track or main. Just plain old Superior - Oh's and Amb mics - panned 100/100.

I guess, to better explain it, I'm hearing the snare, kick and toms pretty much around center but the hats and cymbals I'm hearing more out of my right speaker, which makes it sound WAY away from the other drums.

Got a bit of a Crue vibe in the beginning myself, definitely a compliment because I like Mick Mars.

Metal's not really my thing, but I liked this, excellent guitar work.

I just took a peek at the kit and solo'd it. It looks like the two cymbals being played 99% of the time (via the toontrack midi patterns I chose) are off to the right. The OHs and AMB mics are presenting a slightly different position in the room for one of them. Not sure what's up with that. My kit is a hybrid of a few different Toontrack kits, some SDX, some EZX. That might be the discrepancy I'm hearing.

I'll have to take a closer look at the kit as a whole before releasing the next one. Thanks for mentioning.

It's really damn good. High energy never lets up. Only complaint is that it sounds like a bit like an old 128k mp3. What file type did you upload?

To me it sounds right between Megadeth and Skid Row. I like.

At this stage, whether I've posted or not, you can assume that I've heard it a couple of times at least and consider it effing great, congrats on another fine track.

i dont think old school metal would have used those chords.

it sounds too emo (the progression and vocal melody).

so i guess i'd call it nu metal.

the vocal timbre is great.
the drums dont sound as great as the other instruments.

pretty sure the bass guitar could do something more interesting than just pedal all day.

edit- just read some other replies, the vocals dont sound anything like alice cooper to me. just because it's got a bit of fry does not equate to alice cooper.

Thanks! Uploaded a WAV, 24/48k. God only knows what SC does to them after that. Thanks for listening and your comments!

I would agree some of the chords are definitely not old school. I was just talking about the general vibe of the tune. To each his own. Thanks for listening.

Let's whip out the form

Old school metal:

[x] standard tuning
[x] harmonized guitar leads
[x] galloping pace
[x] riffage with palm muted pedal notes

Nu metal:

[ ] low tuning
[ ] no solos whatsoever
[?] tracksuits

I'll be leaning towards old school here (can't be sure about the attire). It's much more Priest than Korn (and pretty well done, harmonies are killer).

it's more linkin park than priest. harmonized guitar solos is secondary to what the guitars are actually playing.

i wouldnt describe the beat as a gallop. that word has a specific meaning. if you want to say tempo, then say tempo.

not that this message matters, the song is what it is.

Actually this reminds me of old Savatage more than Motley Crue. I like it a lot. Very 80's metal (but the GOOD 80's metal, not the crappy "hair metal").
