Default Small FR: Set loop points while playing

This is a "small" feature request. It is a small thing, yet it can
accelerate the workflow tremendously! Let's see ...

Situation (current version 6.0.5)

We can assign mouse-modifiers so that we are able to
set the "start loop point" and the "end loop point" by mod-left click
on the ruler, see image:



These mouse actions work nicely when Reaper is stopped.
But as soon as Reaper plays then the action "set end point" fails. The end point
here - at the mouse hand - cannot be set:

Suggestion

Let "Set end point" work correctly also if Reaper is playing.
Same for "Set start point".

Motivation
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A fast and intuitive change of the loop-interval is most important
for an ergonomic workflow, because we almost everytime work in
the loop interval.

The best and fastest way to change the loop points is just by
mouse-clicking at the ruler. And yes - this works perfectly if
Reaper is in "stop mode". But unfortunately it doesn't work if
Reaper is in "play mode".

As a remedy, can't you just use this Custom Action, assigned to a keyshortcut ?:

View: Move edit cursor to mouse cursor
Loop points: set end point
Go to start of loop


Workflow:
Reaper in Play mode.
Point mouse to where you want Loop End point to be placed.
Fire the Custom Action.
Loop End point will be set (snapped) to mouse cursor.
Play Cursor will go to start of Loop, Play will continue from that point.

Ooh yeah, thank you vanhaze!

I will try that - maybe it's a good approach.
Though, of course, it will interrupt the play-flow,
but let's see.

You could forget the last action in the Custom Action.
Doing that will AFAIK not interrupt Play position, when firing Custom Action.
(sorry, didn't test that myself)

Now, vanhaze, I have checked your macro-suggestion:

It works in principle. Though at every mouseclick
both, edit cursor and song position, jump back to the start
of the loop. So everytime I set a new loop point the playback
starts from the beginning. Yeah, maybe that is a matter of
becoming used to it.

Nevertheless in Cubase and Apple Logic the setting
of loop points works *without any* influence on the song
position. The song plays continuously - and there is no
interruption at all.

I guess the "interruption mode" here is the "Reaper solution".

Anyway, thank you for your Reaper solution!
