Default Separate midi track notes to different midi channels?

Would someone please point me to a script that allows me to split up an existing midi track, so that certain notes can be allocated to their own separate midi channel?

A search for this has so far been unsuccessful

posted in wrong forum...

One option is to select the MIDI Notes and then change the MIDI channel via the Note Properties (accessible via Right-Click > Note Properties or the menu: View > Event properties) or Right-Click > Note Channel.

If you need to filter certain notes first (for instance by velocity, note range, etc.), have a look at using View > Filter Events in the MIDI Editor.

If you're looking for something more specific, can you please post more details or an example of what you want to do, exactly...

Hi Solger,
what I am trying to do is get a complex arpeggiator track, to then change the midi channel of all the notes to trigger multiple hardware synths, Reaktor and Kontakt etc.
Any idea how to go about this?

Sorry, but I'm still not sure exactly according to which criteria the MIDI notes (of the same MIDI Item) should be split and sent to different synths.

Just to name a few examples:
- Should the same MIDI notes (or MIDI note range) be sent to multiple synths at the same time?
- Should, for instance, the MIDI notes from C1-B2 be sent to Reaktor and the MIDI notes from C3-B3 to Kontakt?
- Do you want to use a synth plugin where lower octave notes are on MIDI channel 1 and higher octave notes are on MIDI channel 2, etc. ?
- If you just want to send a certain MIDI note range (like C1-B1) to a specific synth, it's probably enough to use something like JS: MIDI Note Filter before the synth (plugin)
- and so on ...

So can you please post a screenshot of this arpeggiator track and give a short example description which of the MIDI notes (on which MIDI channel) should be sent to Reaktor and which ones to Kontakt, etc ...

sorry for the vague question - I will try to extrapolate:

I have a complex arpeggiator pattern recorded on one midi track.

I decide that note C2 would be great to go to external hardware synth on midi channel 2

midi note G2 I would like to go to Reaktor on midi channel 3.

midi note E3 I would like to go to a different external hardware synth on midi channel 4.

midi note A4 I would like to trigger a sample instrument in Kontakt on midi channel 5.

etc etc.

I hope this is clearer. Thanks for your help!

So note properties seems to do this, I will experiment.

Ah, OK.

I'll have to check if there's a faster or more elegant way instead of using JS: MIDI plugins (for channel routing, note filtering, etc.) or setting the channels manually (via Note Properties) ...

I got it,
Select all notes with the same note value
Select note channel.
Everything is doable in Reaper !!!!!

Thanks Solger you pointed me in the right direction to solve this.

OK, great

If I come across a faster way or script which lets you automate these steps, I'll post it here.
