Do your homework before dropping any cash on one of those. Drivers, drivers, drivers... Not too long ago, every DAW or recording forum I hit was filled with nightmarish stories of driver issues with the Lexi USB stuff... Omega, Lambda etc...

Hopefully, all that has been FIXED... but check it out good first.

I've got one of the Omegas and after pulling my hair out with cubase (it comes bundled) I finally tried Reaper and all my worries were gone. When I asked the salesperson about the Lexicon stuff he said he wouldn't wish it on his worst enemy, but also said the Omega was the only good one of the bunch. I personally wouldn't invest in Lexicons older line when they seemed to have improved everything with their newest line of interfaces, offering firewire and USB 2.0 .

I would do your homework well, look up plenty of reviews, plenty of people offer reviews of interfaces and other audio equip. on Youtube. There are lots of different interfaces to choose from, I would even look into stuff twice your price range, you never know when you'll come across a good deal or someone looking to upgrade their home studio and willing to cut you a good price on used equipment. Oh, and CRAIGSLIST, CRAIGSLIST, CRAIGSLIST, I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a good price on something because a fellow musician needed to come up with some quick cash.

Happy hunting

I agree 100%...
Lexicon makes great reverb. (Their upper tier units)
Their track history with audio interfaces is... well... less than stellar.
I'd avoid Lexicon audio interfaces like the plague.
There are too many other (better) options available.

Same here... I also have an Omega, and I am quite happy with it (very versatile & good sounding interface), although I never got the drivers to work on a PC (used Asio4All instead). It works fine on macs as well. But I wouldn't buy it now, since Lexicon has now released their new line (see http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...742#post482742).

Seems I don't really have much to add, except that I have and use a Lambda, and it works fine for me, using ASIO4ALL. Lexicons own driver also works, but I did some tests and ASIO4ALL gave slightly better latency, at the cost of being less predictable (differed more between best and worst offsets) than the native Lambda driver.

One thing to note is that the one pointed to above seems to need external power. My Lambda is USB powered, which I like a lot.

The bundled Cubase LE4, I couldn't even bear to install. The registration procedure was really a laugh, to need to go through all of that for a piece of bundled software... *sigh*

Oh also, the bundled Lexicon reverb, which sounds great, is only usable in cubase, which sucks..long and hard. While I enjoy the portability of the Omega I, personally, would prefer something with a little more hands on control, like a board type interface. Oh, and no on/off switch. I hate plugging and unplugging to turn the #&@%* on when I need it. pita
Remember, you don't need that awesome an interface to do awesome things in Reaper.

....I refuse to capitalize cubase, only Reaper deserves that respect.

some good feedback, the unit doesn't seem to stand up to what they state on the site then?

anyway this is only for my home pc not for my recording studio, i just want something a notch better than my old usb 1.1 phase 26.

I have one. I would stay clear! With mine after about 1 year the volume was crackly and sometimes the L/R balance would go and I would have to wiggle the volume nob to get the L/R equal again. I have a replacement and I admit that the cracking problem didn't start until after some time of not using it. It is still useful as a transfer/record tool, in fact it is at my folks house for transferring their LPs to mp3/flac.

Looks like my old usb 1.1 phase 26 is a notch better than the Lambda lol
