DWTL
An attempt at a Rock ballad, mix seems okay to me in that everything can be heard, feel free to poke fun at it though. I still haven't evened the panning so once again it's very L and R guitar/keyb but figured the individual insts can be heard more isolated afa mix suggestions etc.

hey Morgon - enjoyed this! i got a retro-80s kinda vibe.. Pink Floyd? good separation on the mix, but you could probably boost the vox some - push it a little more out front. Found myself leaning in a few times. loved the solos!

Thanks Mark, I'll tweak the vocal up a bit. Already knowing the words prolly psyched myself out a bit there.
And yeah prolly some early whimsical Floyd influence, count me as one who likes pretty much every guitar style and any music done well. I gotta admit your sophisticated brand of techno power rock impresses me tremendously. If I can work up some real ambition I might try for some tracks along those lines sometime. You got the sound refined too, crunch and clarity, great stuff.
Cheers and thanks for listening.

For one the mix isn't overcrowded, so you've got a very good arrangement. Just the right amount of "things" happening at one time. I don't feel your voice needs to be raised as much as it could use clarity. Maybe remove/lighten some of the fx? The lead reminded me of Queen. If you had a harmony with it, I'd swear Brian May made an appearance.

Thanks Sammy, there's two eq's and a comp on the voc buss and a send to an IR track for verb. Would you say it's an eq matter? or verb? Or both? Cheers

In that case, I'd say eq. Sounds like a hair more of the lows could come out. Or maybe take some lows from the verb. I'm listening again, and maybe a little of the same on the drums (snare).

Made afore suggested changes, 2nd version in the OP.
Please feel free to reevaluate it from scratch and suggest changes, I would appreciate it, my hearing is unreliable these days.
I'm happy to tweak it for as long as you guys feel like pointing out issues. Maybe the voc is too HF now? Or too loud? Or not? Anyways, thanks for your help, does sound quite better now ime

I think it's opened up enough now to bring in a little more of the bass guitar.

Version #3 posted, bumped the bass gtr up a bit. I won't repost again but I'll still tweak it if something is suggested that really needs doing, prolly a bit of sibilance in a couple of spots
Couple of other minor audio edits to do inc fadeout
Cheers, thanks for the help guys, did improve it significantly.

Nice !!
I listened to #3
I think the vox could still use some attention, seemed a little loud in begining then once song picks up there's times they lose clarity.
Perhaps Eq and maybe a little delay for cream and setting
Guitar playing is great !!
Could use a bit of creaminess as well
tones just a bit jangley in my opinion
cool tune !!!

Thanks Erik, yeah the voc a bit loud at the start, on the project file it isn't but my mastering skillz atm consists of a Vlads Limiter 6 preset on the master track which has the effect of putting gtr + voc intro vol at much nearer parity with the full band in section lol. I might try automation and/or envelopes to remedy that.

I guess I avoided using delays back at version #1 when the track lacked some clarity but that turned out to be mainly eq issues on snare, kick and vocs, so there's definitely more room to move with that now so thanks for drawing my attention to it, cheers.

I listened to #3 and agree with Sammy about the FX. That would be the biggest thing you could do to improve the vocal sound. I also heard hints of Pink Floyd as someone else mentioned. I bought every one of their records until they became a commercial success. Dark Side was my last PF album.
