What usually takes to become AVID developer?

EDIT: I want to be able to make AAX plugin...

Basically they give you a test of something simple such as generating the Fibonacci sequence, whoever can code it with the most lines of code and inefficiency and bloat gets the job.

If you have plugin/s released or in development that you can show you shouldn't have a problem, they have always be very helpful in my experience.

Does one need a legally recognized company/business name to be able to participate in the Avid developer program?

I think it basically requires patience and persistence.

Be nice and send them emails every few weeks. Eventually, they will respond. I assume a website and existing plugins also are helpful. I don't know if they have some internal checklist of what you need to have access to the AAX SDK, but I do remember it took me some time to finally get a response. When I did, they were very helpful.
