position for gradual tempo change

If the timeline is set to display measures.beats, and a tempo change is inserted, the change position is shown as minutes:seconds in the dialogue box. If doing a gradual tempo change, when the tempo change marker is inserted, it does so at the minutes.seconds, not at the measure.beat selected. This isn't much of a problem as the marker position can be dragged to the desired measure.beat. However, when using a gradual tempo change, if one changes the BPM, the position remains the same with respect to minutes:seconds, not measure.beat. If the tempo value is altered, the change will not occur at the same measure. Hopefully this example will help:

Insert a time signature marker at measure 1, beat 1, for 80 BPM and select "gradually transition tempo to next marker". Now move the edit cursor to measure 10, beat 1, and insert another time signature marker, setting it for 200 BPM (note the position is shown in minutes:seconds). The tempo change marker moves to measure 17, beat 1. Slide the tempo change marker back to measure 10, beat 1. Now edit the tempo change marker from 200 BPM to 160 BPM, and the tempo change marker now occurs at measure 9, beat 1.

When the timeline view is selected to be measures.beats, shouldn't the gradual tempo changes occur according to the measures.beats instead of the time?

I just tried version 1.52, and the same thing happens. Am I doing something incorrectly? Shouldn't the tempo changes remain affixed to the desired measures?

Any thoughts?

Yes. You should also be able to enter the marker positions using Measures.Beats when in this Timeline mode.

This sort of functionality might need to wait until Justin has implemented an Acid-type stretch-to-tempo function (just a guess).
