Default Reaper No Longer Working

UPDATE: Now Reaper won't play at all. It just keeps saying:
"There was an error opening the audio hardware. Error initializing ASIO buffers".
Just shelled out $60 bucks for this. Wow...i got ripped off. Reaper you suck.

The ASIO audio driver is a Microsoft audio driver software app used in Windows computers. Sounds like you're having trouble selecting it to use as an audio controller?

When you install a 3rd party app (like a DAW app) that relies on something in your operating system... it's kind of on you to provide that and click on the right things. This is a pretty active forum and you'll find help around here if you decide to ask.

Provide details like what happens when you try to work the controls on the Preferences Audio/Device page for the ASIO driver you have chosen to connect to, for example. We can only assume you're clicking on the right things. And then what? Something grayed out? Something unresponsive?

Let's start simple...

- Did you have a previous setup that did work? If so, could you lay out specifics?

- What is the current setup you are having issues with? Being specific will help narrow things down.

- Will Reaper work without an interface?

Why should anybody be inclined to answer to such kind of "complaining before researching" type of message ?

Already started this discussion in the other thread he started, so I'll paste my response from there:

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=225334

What audio interface do you have?

Is the audio interface you use for reaper also the default windows audio device (the one sound from your other apps goes through)?

Are there any other programs running at all?

A web browser?

These sorts of problems are almost never the fault of reaper.

And, friendly tip, spamming the forum with multiple threads about the same thing because you're pissed off isn't the best way to get help.

You don't know that reaper is at fault, and if you had the technical abilities to make that determination you wouldn't need to be asking for help.
