Lyrics window
Hi,
I'm new in the forum, altough I'm a reaper user since some months.
I mainly sing alone on karaoke tracks.
It's really strange it's not possible to read lyrics already on midi, kar, mp3, or cdg files inside a lyric window.
I think it could be realized easily with an internal plugin.
Why it haven't been yet implemented?
It's so problematic?
I think this is one of the feature that could interest much more people you can imagine, that try difficult settings to record what come out from karaoke players inside a DAW.
thank you.

interesting solution...
altough I'm hoping that someone at Cockos will implement the basic function to open midi and kar text or mp3 and cdg lyrics in a lyrics windows.
And I'm sure I'm not the only user waiting for this feature...

You're definitely not the only one.
I have searched everywhere and I can't believe there's not a VST for displaying lyrics on a second screen. I sing in two bands with 20 song reps each and it would be great to have an autocue/lyric prompter set up on stage so I can run lyrics and changes.
Any usable thoughts or solutions would be welcome!

It should be possible with a plugin, i also use PG music Powertracks and it reads .kar files and also reads and scrolls the chords. For $49 it is a good simple DAW, not s sophisticated as Reaper, but it makes a great little brother for simple playback on stage. You an enter lyrics if they are not there, and or download a kar file and sync the tempo and add your own mix in to it. I find most cover tunes have a .kar file out there and with a little work i can make them sound good. I mixed one in reaper the other night and then popped it back in Powertracks and it plays nicely and has lyrics and chords.

Sure but.. I don't think it's in the interest of Reaper developers and users.. to address people to use Band.in a box and Reral Band. Real Band is a small daw not powerful as reaper that allow to read lyrics in midi or cdg files while registering performance too...

Has anything ever become of this? I am looking for a way to display lyrics from a laptop while playing backing tracks on reaper during a live acoustic set....
Like, start the backing track and have the lyrics pop on at the same time. I've never done solo sets before so I'm not quite sure how this can be done. I suppose I could go the old paper route.....but would rather not. And, as you're aware, can't take a lot of time going from song to song.

-- click [Insert] >> Empty item
-- right-click it >> Item notes, and type away

Just tried that out and its very cool.
My plan is to take the bass, drums (bongos) and maybe some tambourines or shakers from some already produced projects....solo those tracks and bounce them to one backing track per song. Below each I can put the song lyrics - thanks to you.... wrap it all into one "live" project (might be 60 tracks), solo the backing tracks as needed for playback and have the whole song list at my fingertips...
very cool
thanks again

Click "Stretch to fit item" in the Notes window.

Idea
You know what would be really cool?
If we could stretch the vertical boundaries of the Empty Item w/notes PAST the vertical boundaries of the track on which it sits.
So a lyrics display, for example, could overlap all tracks as far as it needs to go, without having to inflate one single track to the full size of the text.
