Cannot get Reaper to see Fathom 64 bit
I cannot get my Reaper 64 to see the Fathom 64 bit Vsti ...
It's in my C:\VST\64bit\ folder and this is the last item in my VSTpath too. Other VST and VSTi in this folder path load just fine.
If I put the 32 bit version in my C:\VS\32bit\ folder then it shows up fine as the 32 bit bridged version.
But, of course, I would like to run the 64-bit .dll!
I have done all the usual clear and rescan, renamed the various vst .ini files and let reaper make them again etc etc ... still no go.
Also done a 64-bit portable install. On adding the C:\VST\64bit\ folder and re-scanning I see the FathomMONO64.dll file scanned. But it does not appear in the VST pane.
Any ideas? Anyone able to test it for me (it's a free download).
Thanks,
dB

It loads for me, but it's an extremely buggy and quirky plugin! I tested it and have already deleted it! It froze Reaper for me and seemed to cause spikes in CPU and Memory even after Reaper was closed. Weird stuff!

That's very odd. I've done a portable install and set the VST path to JUST my C:\VST\64bit. Done a clear cache and rescan ... I see it go by as it' scanned, but does not appear. So, which file is keeping the info about not showing it?
In the vstplugins.ini file it looks like this:
dpMeter2_x64.dll=007BB635129DD301,1413632067,dpMet er2 (x64) (TBProAudio) (6ch)
FathomMono64.dll=DBF26BAEEAA7D301
fb310064.dll=1FB7ED8C8E6FD301,1178743601,FB-3100 (x64) (Full Bucket Music)!!!VSTi
Looks like the plugin is not passing back the required info ...
Could you possibly check to see if your entry (again!) is complete? (the 32-bit one is OK -)
I need it for an OSC challenge (and sounds like it will be a challenge!).
Ideas?

Did you put all of the files in that location or just the dll?
Do you have both 32 and 64bit in the same folder that is scanned?
Have you searched for it through the fx browser?

I put the Fathom folder in that location, so all its bits are there ...
I also deleted the 32-bit .dll which was in the Fathom folder as well.
I ran Reaper as Admin as well ...
Just done this ...
I have also just cleared the VST path, deleted the reaper-vstplugins.ini, copied the Fathom folder to a new destination, and added that new path to the vstpath list - restarted reaper as admin, clear cache and rescan.
No luck. In the reaper-vstplugins.ini file I now have just the Rea plugs and the same fathom entry at the bottom thus:
...
reavoice.dll=000F6CAB34A7D301,1919252067,ReaVoice (Cockos)
reaxcomp.dll=0088D8A734A7D301,1919252579,ReaXcomp (Cockos)
FathomMono64.dll=DBF26BAEEAA7D301
What do these entries mean? What is the second item which seems to be missing from the Fathom entry? Is this a known number? Can I edit it into the .ini file from someone elses install?
Frustrated ...

Yep, that shows that Reaper detected a problem when scanning Fathom64. I do not know what the subsequent number means.

Weird.
I did notice that on their website they said that it does not run (mysteriously) on all systems so to be sure to try the free mono version before purchasing the multi-voiced version. You might have one of the mysterious no-workee systems.....

As an aside - where is portable reaper populating list of the VST developers? Not from a portable folder that I can find??? It has entries from devs for plugins NOT in my FX browser pane?
Very confused
Yeah, I am trying the free version as this is the one all users will have access to for the "challenge" ...
Strange that the 32-bit is OK.

what I have found is that I can get it to show up in the FX list if I clear and rescan BUT also tick the "Do not scan VST names (deprecated)
But when I tried to load it, it loads as offline in red text! And does not work of course.

I would say that it's not going to work on your system. And if they need to mention this possibility on their website (and given how weird it was on mine), I'd stay clear of it.

I am running reaper 64 5.7 pqrtable on windows 7. I have had both mono and poly versions run with no issues. If you guys are on KVR there is a thread where the developer is quite active.
https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7013836
Chime in and see if there is a possible
solution. It is a bit different from most synths but I wouldn't call it buggy.

Maybe you are a lucky one...lol
I have a fairly robust system (4 year old i7 4970) and the plugin froze Reaper in an otherwise empty project (a project set up to test this). After forcing reaper to close with task manager, I was having CPU and RAM spikes until I rebooted.

Thanks all ... joined the KVR chat! Looks like it might be static vs dynamic link library issue with the free versions.

Or maybe you're the unlucky one. lol
I have been following the development of Fathom for a while. These type of issues have shown up from time to time but aren't that frequent and are usually resolved pretty quick once the developer is aware. Lots of folks reporting a pretty stable situation at this point in the development.
Keep an eye on it, maybe your issue will be resolved as well.

It might also be a Win 10 issue, others who are OK are Win 7's!
Hopefully sorted soon ... otherwise it's the 32-bit bridged for the OSC.

I have a vague memory (old fart here) that some plugs require you to have 32 installed for the 64 to work ???
No harm in trying ...

The big problem is that it simply does not register in the FX browser at all. The 32-bit does, so it's something wrong with the 64 bit build with Win 10 and Reaper 64 combo.
Yup, tried with 32-bit installed too ...

Yup rcl, March's KVR OSC will be Fathom - which is why it would be great for me to get the 64-bit version going, rather than using the 32-bit bridged.
I would like to have the month to do the work rather than fight the synth to even get it loaded. The dev is on the case though, so fingers crossed we'll have a version which runs as 64-bit on Windows 10!

Thats awesome! When I first saw Fathom I thought it would make a great OSC, even in mono.
Based on the developer's history I would say he will have it resolved before the start of the competition.
When did BJ announce that? I thought is wasn't announced until the 1st of the month.

BJ said so in the Slack channel, so not a lot know about it yet ....
Just done a quick test, 23 instances of the 32-bit bridged in reaper-64, and it uses 24% -28% cpu (task manager).
Reaper perf meter a bit odd ...
Total cpu 1.8%
RT cpu 1.3%
33 fx cpu 21.7%
I guess you have to add all three items?
Gonna take some time working with wavetables though ... should be fun!

Fathom Synth validation on Reaper
Hello everyone, Everett here (lead developer at Seaweed Audio).
My friends at KVR alerted me to this thread and I just read through everything.
This bug is a top priority now since Reaper is very popular among our users and Fathom really should validate without such problems.
I use Reaper myself for system testing on all releases and I have no trouble scanning Fathom 64 Bit.
But I’m using Windows 7 and, so anyone using Windows 10 could easily have DLL issues. The choice between static or dynamic linking is tough for a plugin, since it will tend to break on either Win 7 or Win 10 systems, which is why we provide both builds.
Take a look at our version update page since it explains the necessity for the MD and MT build options.
https://www.fathomsynth.com/updates/
If you already have the poly version, try the MT build update and let me know.
More importantly, in today’s 2.7 release I updated the download page to include the free download of the MT build also.
https://www.fathomsynth.com/download/
I have a Windows 10 partition ready to go, so this week I will create the first Windows 10 build which I think is what will really fix the problem.
2.7 also makes massive performance improvements to dial editing during playback and should fix a lot of the dial popping.
I’ll check back on this thread regularly in addition to the KVR thread to make things easier for Reaper users.

Thanks for this. Works fine and improves performance.
23 Fathoms.
Bridged 32-bit ... 28% cpu and 16 Gb RAM
Native 64-bit ... 16% cpu and 9Gb RAM
Looking good.

Fathom Synth validation on Reaper
OK, Good news.
I'm creating the Windows 10 build now.
I'll let everyone know on this thread when that is available.

OK, many thanks. Looking forward to testing the win10 build. So far so good though. The vectorising code should improve the performance no end - a lot of work I assume though.

Thanks for this ... had to go back to using the MT version again though as something with the various redists prevents Reaper from seeing the 64-bit version. 32-bit is fine.
Neither the standard windows build or the Win10 build will register now.
EDIT : Well well well, I needed to install the 2012 c++ redistributable as well. All's good now.
