Default Preventing mass resizing of selected items

A couple questions for the experts:

1) Is there any way to stop Reaper from resizing all selected items at once? It is great being able to group-adjust items' volume and various other attributes. But the start/end bounds and fades are not something I often need to edit as one.

So - if shift key is pressed, then resize all selected items. Otherwise just resize item or fade under pointer. Is there a way to do this?

2) Is it possible to write a mod or something which warns me when an editing action will result in substantial changes to a large number of offscreen items (elsewhere in the project, etc)? I just had one of those moments where I was making revisions to a project and noticed that a few hundred custom item fades have disappeared, so I must have accidentally made a huge group edit and I'm unsure of how long ago that happened  . ADHD ftw

Hold Control while adjusting the fadeout, etc. to do it to only the one item, ignoring grouping.

However, you can change these assignments as you wish:

Options, Prefs, Mouse Modifiers, Media item edge (context) left drag.

Chnage the default behaviors as you wish.

Not sure if I understand. And Reaper is rendering all night so I can check.

I’m not talking about grouped items. I just mean when multiple are selected. Do you mean that holding control will affect only one of the selected items? Thanks

Edit: never mind, got it figured out. Can have the default action be move edge + ignore selection/group and cmd+action be "relative".

Whether the iems are oficially grouped or just selected together, Ctrl drag will give you what you are seeking.
