Default req: rename source to track name?

there is a short discussion about what I'm looking for here:

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread....63#post2143263

I see where X-Raym has a script that I think does the opposite of this
so maybe he would have a handle on what I'm after???

Or anyone? And if it can be done with a custom action instead of a lua I'd be good with that if you can tell me how to build it...

thanks much

If you use SWS label processor (or any other processor) to rename items with track name,

you will be able to take advantage of scripts there:
Especially X-Raym_Rename selected takes source file with takes name if possible.lua

Many thanks for your support!

Can you send me a screen capture of what hapen ?

(so I can see what script you used, if they were the same source on different items etc)

see if this works plz

I guess when I see 'selected' I'd expect whatever action to ONLY work on what is selected...

EDIT: it may be that those scripts are more than what I wanted... I 'think' my needs are simple but I don't
if it is simple to script them...
I just want to select the item on one track and have a lua that will grab the track name [like gtr one, or Bass 1 ] and
make that the name of the item and the source for that item.

Use SWS label processor with /T to push Track Name into Take Name,
Then use the "if possible "scripts, it is more efficient than the other as it doesn't have all the complex stuff. But if the track_name.wav file already exist, it will not rename.

So you have to be sure that you don't select multiple items with same source.

If you do, and if those items are on different tracks (and you want difference source name for them anyway), force use Render to new take action.

Note that the scripts may rebuild peaks for more items than selected cause it checks all items in the project to see if they have a take with the same source files as the selected ones.

Also, it rebuild with the "rebuild all peaks actions" so if you had non peaks for some reason, it will rebuild for them too.

Try on a very simple project with copied file to see how it works in a simple situation

Let me know if it is good after that !

Ok tested on just one track, one item
/T works fine thanks for that
then ran...
Script: X-Raym_Rename selected takes source file with takes name if possible.lua

seems to work OK but the source name becomes:

2ch 3:19.999 : blue bass.WAV

anyway to not have 2ch 3:19.999 :
so I'd just end up with blue bass.wav???

2ch 3:19.999 : blue bass.WAV

This is your output file name ?

THis is demo with a track named MIDI

=> It create MIDI.wav

So my two cents is that your track name is 2ch 3:19.999 : blue bass is actually the name of your track. There is no code to get channel number otr whatsoever in the script.

Else, please remake a screen capture with another track name and another source item :P

Thx !

right... I guess it picked up that 2ch... part from when it was first made... which was outside of reaper...

so I guess it's OK for now... and I can live with it...

Thank you VERY much for taking time with me
