Default Native Instruments no Thrill

Hi,thought I'd take advantage of the NI half price sale. Thrill looked interesting,
$260.00 CAS + tax. Four attempts at download/installation via Native Access, I've not
been Thrilled."Download- Unknown Error",after a lot of looking, I managed to get a Support email to NI. In the past five days I've received 2 emails from NI, which have not been helpful, the last 2 days, nothing from NI. I checked all of NIs' FAQ info,no help there. I know that I'm not the only one to have an issue with Native Access and NI knows that there has been ongoing issues with NA. Thrill is the largest item I have tried to download via NA (30 Gigs). I haven't had any problems with smaller downloads.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Does it even begin downloading, or not? There's a little trick you could use if it at least attempts the download.

Right after you start the download, press the Pause button immediately!

Then go to your system drive, enable showing hidden files and folders, you will see a hidden folder that has NI in its name, open it, then open the "metalink" file in a text editor. Scroll to the bottom and you'll see the download link there. Try downloading via your browser with that link.

Thanks ED,yes, it does start the download. I have in my Downloads,
-Thrill.iso.aria2
-Thrill- Disc Image File- Size-31,465,268
as I've mentioned I read NIs' FAQ and removed the aria2 file. NI suggested I right click on either of these files. Nothing of any use there.
I will try what you suggest. I'm sure not how to open "metalink" in a text editor.
I'm not the most computer savvy guy, but I'll give it a shot. What do you think I should do with the files I have if anything.

When you're in that hidden folder and you see a file that has "metalink" in its name, just right-click it and Open with->Notepad. Or whichever text editor you have.

Dump the files that you've downloaded so far I'd say.

metalink-hlWTFCRc.meta4 ? Please be patient, as I mentioned I'm not very computer savvy and I appreciate your help. How do I open this in Notepad?
It seems that I have it open in Notepad. There's a long string of numbers. If I'm in the right place, what's next. thanks

Yes, that's it. Open the metalink file, scroll to the bottom, you will see a download link. It IS a pretty long string of letters and numbers and symbols.

It's between <url> and </url>, starts with http:// Copy that whole line (without <url> tags of course) into your browser.

Thanks ED, it's the very last line.I'm having a hell of a time just trying to copy it.
It keeps jumping all over the place. I've copied and pasted a lot of urls',never had
this kind of nerve wracking experience performing such a simple operation. Thanks

Hmmm... any firewall enabled on your computer? Might be blocking connections from/to NI's servers. Might be your ISP blocking the connection to them, who knows...

403 forbidden (server understood but denied the request) should be coming from NI with the exception of the OP going through a proxy such as at work or something. It may be most likely that the OP missed part of the URL when copying or it is time sensitive. 403.4 however would simply mean the link used http instead of https.

Hi ED, what I'm looking at now is Thrill.iso. Seems to be downloading. If the download
is successful, what then? This download is going to take a very long time. I'm not, tho tempted to go on a rant and express my thoughts and feelings about NI and why it's
left to customers to fend for themselves after shelling out big bucks for their products.
Instead what I will do is extend my hand in gratitude to you,ED. Thank you, however
this turns out.

When it downloads, you need to mount the ISO file and run the installer from it. IIRC on W10 you can mount ISOs directly from File Explorer.

You didn't say if you're on Windows or macOS, though.

Win 7 doesn't have built-in ISO image mounting like W10 does. You'll need to install a 3rd party app for that. Suggestion:

Consider this as a virtual CD/DVD drive. Mounting an image is the same thing as inserting a DVD in the player.

ED, words are not enough to express my gratitude for your time and patience in
helping me with this issue, which thanks to you has been resolved.I could not find the help I needed after scouring the Internet, including NI. I will not go on and on about
the disdain I have for NI Support and the undependable Native Access.
This is a heartfelt thank you note for ED and the Reaper Forum for being what it is.
Thanks also to karbomusic for caring. ED, is there a charity that you care about that I can make a donation to in your name? Once again ED, thank you.

I'm glad I could help and that you have it running.

But definitely keep on tabs with the situation with NA. It does seem like NI is aware of the issue and are investigating:

I'm not much for donating to charities, personally - I think the very act of helping somebody counts as good karma. However if you really want to reciprocitate, I'm always up for a beer or two, ehehe.

Nice job ED! It may be obvious (to us), but, could also mention that Jimly can burn a physical CD/DVD from the ISO to have a backup copy or install from if he ever wants to install to another computer.

That is true, he can definitely do that. Or just backup the ISO on an external hard drive, or whatever.

I kind of figured it would be more of a karma kind of thing for you, ED. I'd be
happy to buy you a beer,if your ever in Toronto. I hope you're right about NI paying some serious attention to the concerns I expressed and as many others have as I discovered in my search for answers to my problem before posting on the Forum.
Thanks for the suggestion, I did keep a copy on a back-up drive. Heartfelt thanks
to you ED and the Reaper Forum.

I doubt I'll ever be in Toronto (well definitely not for the foreseeable time, heh), which is why I left you a Paypal.me link in that post

I am not on a crusade against NI Support. I'm sharing the following because I think it's funny. Today I received an email from NI Support asking me what OS I use and whether I'm on a Mac or PC.

The internet may move at near light speed, but employed people not so much... been sitting in on this thread & so glad our wonderful ED managed to get you up and running! Don`t give up on Native Access though - for most people it works fine.
