Horizontal FX List

Just saw this in Studio One, all the plugins arranged horizontally at the top of the FX. Currently FX plugins are arranged vertically in Reaper, a lot of wasted screen space in a lot of layouts.

I hadn't understood you but I have watched this video about that Daw and I think that your FR makes total sense.

There is an abvious waste of space in Reaper. In fact, I knew it but I never made a FR because I didn't what to propose to get rid of that waste of space.

So you have my vote, but I am afraid that most space problems or aesthetical issues are not considered relevant ... it is not the Cockos way.

They have their own priority list and have to take into account the difficulty of implementing each FR. It could be possible that something like this has a medium to low priority, but is reasonably time consuming to implement, so they put it off for years. They might get to it eventually if multiple issues can be solved at the same time. Eg it's difficult to implement but they solve 5 low priority problems at the same time.

Raper gives the user access to vst,au,lv2,vst3 and DX plugins. That‘s why I‘m somewhat reluctant to drop the prefix plugin type. I wouldn‘t mind dropping the manufacturer’s name from the display though. It needs to stay in the actual track data so plugin mappings(midi/osc/csi…) don‘t break.

In all, it would be harder to parse a horizontal plugin chain list, and blow quite a bit of space too, unless you have left/right scroll buttons, which makes it less usable again.

It can be an option you can turn on an off, up to the user. For tracks with too many FX you could also toggle verticle display mode per track.
