Not really that strange. You are in reality moving a BUNCH of points horizontally all at once, which leads to multiple screen re-draws at different sizes/shapes/w.h.y. which unless you are at pretty high resolution is going to do the same in pretty much any program, DAW or otherwise.

Try setting up (e.g.) and Excel spreadsheet with a ton of horizontal and vertical cells & then scroll them through a fixed-size window & you will see what I mean.

Oops! Sorry - I somehow overlooked the "hand scroll" part!

Hmm...

Nope - Just that I have never used "hand scroll" so not entirely sure what you mean by this.

FWIW I just grab the handle in the editor & scroll with that. Using that method, no issues other than those I would expect, largely rfom my shaky old arthritic hands!

EDIT: OK just figured out what you are doing & replicated. Smooth as a mink lined codpiece on my machine.

But I am still left wondering why you are going to the trouble of setting this up. Using the plain vanilla factory settings, scrolling works exactly the same as far as I can see and is still dead smooth.

Bit of a head-scratcher...

Thanks for the tests, ivansc! I finally figured out how to achieve more obvious convulsions. No, I’m not looking for flaws on purpose. I just work all the time with scrolling zoom. And it haunts me more or less.

I finally realized how to catch this bug.

1) I installed a pure virgin Reaper.
2) In mouse modifiers - > context Midi markers/ Region lines add to Left Drag Horizontal Zoom and Hand Scroll at same time.
3)Important!!! Create midi item at about 9-15 measure
4)Open midi editor
5)Try to hand-scroll right, not zoom. See convulsions!

In the video, I note that when the zoom is off, everything moves smoothly and well!
