Default So long away from mixing, forgot the plugs! Help

Aside from the ReaStuff, I seriously forgot what plugins I normally use for the basics

Usually I try and use free or cheap stuff as that makes tutorials and other educational stuff we make easier for anyone to follow.

What are some good, 64 bit, not too munchy free(or very cheap) plugs in the vein of LA2a, 1176, VariMu, 670, SSL Channel Strip, API channel Strip, Neve Channel strip, and maybe a technical compressor, much like ReaComp?

Anything in this area on reverbs, delay, chorus and flange? Looking for bread and butter mixing and tracking plugins

Hi Pipe, this is just from the top of my head.

When not using JS/Reaperplug, this is what i most often use:
Orilriver Reverb:
https://www.kvraudio.com/product/ori...-denis-tihanov
Bluecats flanger:
https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_Flanger/

As for free channel strips -this is probably the only one:

A suggestion could be to also, check out the monthly reaper mix contest to see just how useful the JS/reaplugs are - and to re-learn them.

Here's a few freebies I like to use:

DC1A compressor, Klanghelm. Nice colorful comp ala CA2A. https://klanghelm.com/contents/products/DC1A/DC1A.php

TDR Nova (dyn eq), Kolentikov (comp), Slick EQ. Decent sounding free plugs also with some color if you push them. https://www.tokyodawn.net/tokyo-dawn-labs/

Yes yes, but keep in mind: You might easily be dragged
away from really good mixing if you spend your time with
searching for plugins.

IMO in Reaper there are nearly all tools that are needed
for very decent mixes. For mixing results your hearing
and your ability to identify frequencies is far more
important than additional plugins.

Running a music school in a land where two coconuts conected with a string is "advanced communication" youd be surprised how much you forget and how quickly too
