All I can say is yesterday I placed two units of the Big Blue compressor on a track I am mixing one on the bass the other on my acoustic guitar. I did a rough mix wow all of a sudden there was definition. All of a sudden as meticulous as I am about getting my bass volumes perfect I could hear the bass presence in a mix right through the song ever present without being overbearing and giving huge energy to the song along with the Acoustic.
Look I have every plug in (well not every plugin) but far to many and many of them are what you would call expensive. The big blue Compressor nails all the other vst compressors I have to the wall for my music my wife noticed the difference straight away and I annoy her heaps.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with the company I have found them one of the nicest people behind a vst I have come across though.
I looked at Disto when I was looking for another compressor I did not try it I tried The Big Blue Compressor instead. I read reviews by the mile on all vst compressors what I find is if you average the reviews the cream shows.
I vow I am right about this one.

Thank you very much for your assessment, Grinder!
I also heard a lot of good news about the software of this company..
I'll get myself the demo and compare it... I only want to invest another 95 bucks if that is gonna be the last compressor I'll ever need... and the Disto is really good as far as I can judge..

So right Skippertag
If it works for you it works you can not get better than that It will be interesting to hear how Big Blue compares to the Disto!
So many vst's out there, it is a big job to try them all let alone one.
Finding one that just does so much is a rare thing in my experience.

I'm also very curious... until now I didn't miss another comp... actually I really love the sound of the Waves PuigChild the most, but that one is of course something different to compare, no?
We'll see - if it sounds as good for me as it does for you I'd regret to have spent some bucks somewhere else....oh yes I really would :-)
BTW - 112db somehow haven't got my attention so far, but I remember someone saying that the quality of all them plugins are really amazaing... Redline Reverb and Red Line EQ particularly... have you checked them, too?
;-)

I do have my eye on the Red Line eq I have not tried it yet.
Thing is I tried the Sonnox Native reverb years ago and truly it was sensational for sound but I am too tight to purchase that even now.
I am using Sonible Smart eq while they get iLok going for the frei:raum
which can not be licensed without being online. The Smart eq they loaned me until iLok comes available online it is a wonderful tool indeed.
Anyway back to the Redline EQ evidently it is a great sounding eq as well as a very good eq.
I am trying to target outstanding eq function and also "sound" I do believe some vst's give better sound.
The Smart eq and the Big Blue give me both, the Smart EQ is part of frei:raum
I can not wait to see what the rest of that plugin surprises me with.

bx_rockrack V3
Hey guys,
I'm no guitar player but I do have to mix guitars every now and then :-)
Currently PA is selling the bx_rockrack V3 for just 29 bucks. Is that something that a real guitar player would buy?
Many thanks for your answers...the deal is on day 21 :-)

(I don't know anything about the Brainworx thing, unfortunately.)

jsCompShaper
It's not a BlackFriday or Season Deal - it's just an amazing Compressor for free
https://www.kvraudio.com/product/jsc...per-by-jsaudio
I got reminded to it while trying out some compressors against the really great Big Blue Comp by 112db
As 95 is still very much money for me for just one plugin I investigated a little bit and I have to say, jsCompShaper is just amazing. With the help of the Pre-Emphasis EQ I've got really close ... (as far as my ears are hearing it..)
You may want to try it...it's really, really worth it..

GTR3 for 49? Sounds good to me...as it is much more flexible
How about the free stuff by Ignite Amps or even more the AXP stuff? Can they compete with the other mentioned?

I just checked the last one by AXP. I think it was at one of the last Developer Challenges.... SoftAmp PSA
I was searching for a tone for my current mix... I need a clean sound
Compared it agains rockrack clean 800 and came to fairly the same sound.. amazing...
Wow...and then a little jsCompShaper Squeezing Highs ...und ich bin zufrieden und kann jetzt schlafen gehen.
Good night :-)

I agree! I wish it were available for Mac. I used it a lot when I was on a PC. One of the few non-Mac plugins that I miss.

I would, but I can't count on third party bridges when I'm working with client projects. Sadly, I have to draw the line somewhere and that's a pretty big line.
